Has anyone bought one? I'm looking at the 70-200mm F/4L IS USM with an extended MACK warranty... Be a safe bet?

Well I assume all the lenses come out of the same factory. Should be getting my 14mm f/2.8L USM tomorrow from dwidigitalcameras.com.au, but didn't bother with the extra warranty.

Grey import is fine, If the warranty is needed it just takes a hell of alot longer.

While we're on the topic of importing camera shit, does anyone know of a good international retailer?
Looking at getting a 7D.
I'm kicking myself for not buying lenses while I was in New york, like $600 for a lens that you pay $1200 here for.

Camera bodie's, i would buy Aus stock. They tend to have alot more problems than Lenses.
For a 7D i would try PRA or Stu @ Quality Camera's

Tilt n Shift...nice. Have you got other tilt n shift lenses, and if so how do you find them? I've yet to use one myself.

Well got my 5 & 7D from the above website I mentioned before. Saved ~$800 on the best price in Perth I could get for the 7D. Then add the vertical grip, extra batteries and it's still cheaper than a local 7D body.
Plus I reckon the money I save, if something does go wrong with the camera I think I should be still ahead.

Nah just have the 17mm Use it for landscapes sweet lens sharp corner to corner, being manual focus only can be a bit of a bummer sometimes but for landscapes its ok, only downfall its not being able to use filters on it, but I guess its the same for the 14mm 2.8 L, If I need filters i use the 16-35 :)

Totally agree.
I would offer the same advice to anyone.
These guys are pretty good with their prices too btw

Sadly, I dropped, start again, stupidly, I recently dropped my wide angle lens and it fucked itself.
I have to get it repaired or buy new.
Not impressed with myself at all.
Silly boy.
I went looking for a tilt and shift for my Sony and it was a truck load of fail.
I can't even get a lens baby for the fucker.
I know its a bit 'trendy' at the moment to have one but artistically they are pretty cool :-)

I know, I know :(
I wish I didn't invest so much time, money and effort with the Sony.
I do love the product and it has served me well but I am forever coming up with dead ends on my wish list and it is hampering my development.
One day...
A Canon 1D or a Nikon D3X.
Gotta prove myself first :)

My work has just bought a number of D3X kits. They're a bit sick n tired of Canon and apparent lack of service & lies from what I've heard. Will be interesting to see if we all switch over to Nikon over the next couple of years, though my boss is tight lipped on all these matters so hard to say.
Hopefully that means there might be some cheap L series lenses up for sale in the near future :)
The Sony cameras use Leica made lenses right? If only Leica did something for Canon...

How does the D3X compare with the 1D you are currently using mate?
It's actually Carl Zeiss that does the lenses mate.
Nothinh wrong with hte glass either just the range of what you can get and sometimes they come with a hefty price tag.

Guy at work just used the D3s (sorry not x as previously mentioned) over the weekend. Normally he uses one of the Canon 1D Mk3s for work like me, and reckons it absolutely destroys the Mk3.

nice! not suprising though the mark III is nearly 3 years old? mark IV will be available end of this month I think, more suitable comparison :)
