use your brain and don't drop your cluch so hard. If you can't do this then run a stock clutch.

Orrrr buy an evo.

go for a single plate organic have heard that they provide a little slip when launched hard and are alot less harsh on the gear box compared to the brass button clutches.hope that helps

+1 with the single plate organics, i'm running one on my liberty, nice feel and doesn't rape your gearbox on those hard launches.

as far as i'm concerned but; it's not so much the hard launches that will rape your gearbox (especially gc8 boxes), but rather hard upshifts.

just l2 revmatch and double clutch if you're really pedantic about making your beloved dak dak go bang?

rstay, normally 1st and 2nd gear, i have repaired 1 wrx gear box at subaru and 9 times out of ten its either hard launching or hard shifting ha ha

fuck off - they dont break 1st - very very rare to break 1st. they break 2nd most commonly with hard upshifts, or constant hard loading downshifts.. ie using the 2nd gear as a brake.

stock clutch plate FTW = ~100 bucks versus a box.

Yea but how much hp does the stock one handle before it slips like a pingpingpingping

it doesnt take much to brake them, hard launches in 1st gear and a hard shift to 2nd will cause it to break.never broke a gear box in my wrx, clutch started to slip but thats about it ha ha

I beg to differ.

Everyone thinks they're made of glass.. although they're not the strongest box in the world, if you take a little bit of care, they can last a very long time.

01 onwards 5 speeds are inherently stronger than early ones too, so you need to take that into account also.

I had a 04 wrx five speed in my gc8
hard shift to second with all 4s spinning, combine that with a brass button clutch and I think that's my problem. Was a massive bang! Managed to break my battery bracket too :(
Gonna go a 6 speed and sell or trade my dog box.
With exedy single plate organic clutch,
plus dccd out of an 08 sti.
Just need to modify the bellhousing to fit speedo gear.

I might have to, I don't have 5 grand for a conversion.
But I'm definately changing the clutch.
It rapes everything.
Sadly I don't have the skills to drive a button clutch
