View Full Version : Remote master cylinder

I have clearance issues with my master cylinder and proposed intake manifold, and it has been suggested that there is an option to mount a remote master cylinder elsewhere?

Can anyone provide any info on this, and who may be able to do such work?

ive never heard of a remote master cylinder, remote reserviours yes...

kinda difficult on factory type masters as the reserviour is kinda part of the cyl (you cant screw on fittings to where the reserviour was)...easy it you have a pedal box or twin masters...But if you are able to find a dual stage master that bolts onto your booster - that has ways of putting on fittings to the inputs :S

try dattoman blake?

yeah, it appears to be both the master cylinder and resevoir that are both in the way.

this tells the story

change your intake manifold design imo
it looks too long & not enough taper cut for no1 pot

pretty close to ditching the thing and going aftermarket management and quads to be honest

I'm with Andy as I'd looked into doing something similar a while back. Aside from making pretty drastic modifications to the whole brake setup it wasn't going to happen.

Given that you're having the manifold fabricated for you, is there any possibility that the runner length or angle can be changed to give the plenum clearance with regard to your brake master?

And trust me blake, setting up a pedal box in your car would be a nightmare!

Custom firewall spec

I vote quads

possibly, would need to find a new fabricator to get it done in the next few months.
It would likely involve some severe shortening of the runners which may impact the performance of the whole unit.

really want to find somewhere I can drop the car off, and have them come up with a workable solution.

quads are nice, apart from the huge outlay in costs, a guy porting one of these heads has recommended a plenum and single TB for best results.

The issue with blakes manifold, to get any sort of volume to cyl #1 (booster end), it has to be that approximate size.

Blakes manifold has 2 halves, one starts at the head and has the injector bosses in it, and the other is the half attempting to be fabricated. To fabricate the first half is quite difficult as it runs siamese ports, and then youve got to fab a custom fuel rail.

There is essentially no design other than stock that will fit there, all the US guys can do it because their boosters are on the other side being LHD.

i rekon he has too much volume at cyl 1 with that design.
either way its na so its pissing in the wind

Serious input - what would be involved to convert to LHD and make it legal here? Surely it can't be that hard/expensive, and probably a darn sight easier/cheaper than to remote mount the booster with custom pedal box and such?

Just a matter of would it be worth going to that length of dedication to achieve the results you're looking for with that combo...

Booster wont fit so lets move the steering column

Its time for ITBs already :D

andy: no way in hell worth it, nor would it be easy lol.

leaning towards the ITB's, provided I can get a decent ECU for a good price, searching the 2nd hand market atm.

Better off modifying the firewall for pedal box and do away with the booster if you go down that path, will free up a heap of room.
