Ok I have been asked a few questions about all these conversion, so here goes.....
Easiest model to convert would be RB30 carburetted patrol 88-91
Things you will need
-Patrol first of all and most importantly :)
-Some mates/mum to help out or pay someone to do this for you
-Heavy duty clutch probably a heavy sports clutch for a skyline would do or single twin or triple plate (last one for extreme stupidity or you have one lying around the house)
-EFI fuel pump
-a brain
So this is how it goes.............
Have new engine ready and primed if it a RB25 then remove the Knock sensor wiring from the original start loom and tape up and make it look nice.

Get patrol and get mate to strip out old engine leaving gearbox behind (show some arse crack of the girls they love it). The rb30 patrol gearbox shares the same bolt pattern as rb20/25/26/30 so this can stay in there.

http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/2918/newones192.th.jpg (http://img109.imageshack.us/i/newones192.jpg/)
Engine mods ......remove sump and oil pick up from rb30 carby crusty engine. Also you will need the dipstick and dipstick tube from the carby 30 engine too.
Remove sump on new RBXX and pick up and dipstick, now first of all the pick up will need to have the rb30 patrol pickup fitted so punch out the little grub plug on the drivers side rear of the engine(look where it is on the rb30 its int he same place on the other engines) Put dipstick in and tube and use the grub plug removed earlier to fill the old dipstick tube hole in the front of the block.
##########NOTE#######
Sometimes nissan dont do things the same and where the oil pickup bolts to the maincap of your crank you may have to remove from engine and drill and tap a M6 thread.... if you dont know how to do this then get someone that knows there way around a tap and drill (maybe your mum?) or you could do like some other CRABS have done and not worry about fitting the bolt (I would not suggest this, it is lazy and the pick may snap off and kill your engine)
Then fit it with good heavy JUDY clutch (word of warning dont be a cheap arse and use rb30 clutch ... even brand new they no good for turbo engines ... slippy slippy), fit RB30 original engine mounts and rubbers to new engine (if you are using RB26 then the passenger side mount will have to be modified/custom made) then fit engine to patrol.
this is what it should look like, if it doesnt you have fucked up somewhere so go back to step one and start again........

Cooling system .....now being as I have said use a Rb30 patrol things are easy, the top hose will bolt straight on to the motor and you can use the rb30 bottom thermostat houseing ally pipe or use the skyline one ... you choose. Which means that yes.... the radiator can stay but once again dont be tight arse and get you radiator flushed as turbo makes more heat and thus could cook you engine if the radiator is a crusty piece of shit.
Power steering .. use the rb25 pump as it is far superior that the crusty rb30 one and also rb30 is single "v" not mutiple "V". The High pressure line may have to be made from some one like a Hydraulics place or if you know you way around some speedflo and you like Go Gear and they like you, make it out of bling speedflo (Now I cant remember if the original line bolts on it might but I cant remember so expect the worst)
Exhaust.... now dont be a tight arse and use the crusty Rb30 "poo shooter" nice and big like you mum likes it is the key here .... you can buy 3 inch patrol exhausts from most exhaust places, so if you think a welder is a coke machine, go buy one from a good place like Finnex/Mammoths exhausts Methams where ever, the front pipe will have to be made from the cast dump section on the motor to the new exhaust.
Fuel system........ Go to back of patrol peel up the mouldy carpet (chances are your patrol will have leaky rear windows, find the four bolts and remove them, remove the next 6-8 bolts and remove fuel tank sender and internal pump. Now you are gonna look at this an go "why cant I use this hot fuel pump?" .... no it is a transfer pump not high pressure, bin it and use a Bosh 044 or 040 or something similar, strap it to the pick up with good hose clamps make sure it is at the level where the original pump was pumping from and bung it back in the tank.
####NOTE####
Remove all old fuel lines and replace with efi lines and efi clamps and put a new fuel filter in ... dont be cheap burning your patrol to the ground is not cool and your mates will laugh at you and so will your mum (unless your in it then thats not good DONT BE CHEAP CHANGE THE LINES MUPPETS!!!)
Wiring ...... you need a guru here I use the boys at ALLSTAR as they know their way around a nissan but oyu can use anyone you want ... even your mum, some relays need to be added and custom wiring ( I am not wiring guru I know how to twitch wires and thats about it).
http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/5534/newones010.th.jpg (http://img5.imageshack.us/i/newones010.jpg/)
Intercooling ... now we all dont live in the 80s so put a cooler in your car, its pretty easy to fit a cooler in the front (picture shows a 450mm long cooler but you can use a 600mm in there too)you can even retain your air con condensor. Get some custom piping made up and good silicone and thats one more problem done.
http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/126/newones009.th.jpg (http://img687.imageshack.us/i/newones009.jpg/)
Pretty much thats about it .... now all you have to do is head out to Wedge/Ledge/Lancelin or your back yard and do this.....
http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/6371/tazzie003.th.jpg (http://img27.imageshack.us/i/tazzie003.jpg/)
Now If you have a fat wallet and want to do a Gu best model to buy is the RD28 slug.... the box is the same bolt pattern as all RBXX models ......not the fastest patrol in the world but they cheap (have seen them for 8k). Pretty much the same conversion as about but a custom flywheel MUST be made (Ask YES MATE RACING Todd Wilkinson) and you will have to drain both the fuel tanks of diesel and fill with petrol. Other wise everything else is the same.
Any other models from GQ-GU can be used but most things you will have to get are radiator, gearbox and sumps and engien ounts and the chassis is differnt on most of the other models where the engine mounts bolt on. My advice is to either get RB30 GQ or RD28 GU
Or you could just buy one already done by some CRAB and thash it straight away :)
I accept no repsonablity far any of this conversion being wrong it is a guide only and any recommendation from me is your choice to believe ....
good luck
