Hi Guys,

need to find some good places in Perth to take photos!

Found some great Warehouses in Wangara which worked well,

also a boat ramp just near ALCOA in Kwinana was great.

Where is do you guys like to go to get photos!

Jamie.

I've never visited those places for car shoots because he has abused those locations as if they're the only locations in Perth to shoot a car. I love the 'special effects' that he tries to pull off (the long exposure, multiple flash shots) and they never work due to the

1. Exposure he uses (too long)
2. Location (not dark enough)
3. Wrong flash exposure (not enough)

But to add to this topic...

Kalamunda Zig Zags (around sunset)
CSIRO Bentley (back loading area - has good lighting at night)
Graham Farmer Tunnel (still shots. park car up in emergency lane, crank out a few shots and run for it)

I try to find a new location for each shoot - have only reused a couple out of necessity or requests in the past. Using the same spot over and over again is boring and doesn't give you many options to be creative.

Whenever I'm out and about I always keep my eyes open for potential locations and make a note of them. Then wait for the right car to shoot there.

Using the same ones as other people gets boring too so try and be creative and find somewhere different i.e. not the ones mentioned as being used by RD. :D

last time i checked the place is closed, its illegal to access, and it has a very high health risk warning involved. But people have been sneaking in there for a long time. I doubt you will get a car in there, and you certainly wont get permission to do it.

I drive around for hours all over the place searching for places - it takes time and you need to know what you are looking for.

It's true though. Find the best spots by chance.

Couldnt agree more.

Finding a good location for cars is THE hardest part about an automotive photoshoot. Finding a good unique location is like finding a gold mine for car photographers, and we sure as hell dont want to give them away.

Then the problem you have when you do more and more and even become full time, is you have less time to go find new locations, and it simply isnt viable driving long distances for good locations and it sure as hell isnt viable to drive around all day looking for them. I hate seeing the same locations pop up in photos, but I understand why its done.

last time we went there it was possible but you would need somthing to lay over the fence while you drive in lol. that fence there, you get there by going down up a track down the side of the wall.

this is where the fence was taken down by someone else :boink: didnt wanna drive over the wire though lol

and this is the carpark which is along that wall.
