i :dunno: bout the meetpoints
some ppls were getting pulled over just as i was turning out to go home.
my exhaust started rattling, think its hitting heatsheild dammit.
pretty sure i pissed of heaps of people i was following with my hids too, i tried to overtake in cases but hated leading coz i didnt have a damn map and god knows where i was supposed to be going seeings i passed frosty ages ago :shake: even switched to parkers in some cases. the headlight design in the fg is poor

When did you run 126mph+ Chris?
From what i was told by a few people you were running 122..
djkice
14-11-2009, 10:16 PM
i was running a trial exhaust housing ported to 42mm which was quite laggy on the XFT drag day, was 380rwkw and 123-124 mostly, and 120-122 while heatsoaked? i can post slips if it helps.
i now have a 1psi more boost, and 25kw more threw rev range also with the new exhaust housing and its stronger off line. want to get a few runs down how it is before trying the .7 front cover

plx devices kiwi wifi which interfaces with iphone
before taking it out to the drags i was getting 11.7-11.54 on average with 125-125.2 according to the software... obviously thats not on a prepped track etc
i mentioned it to a few people and they said those sorts of times are impossible on street tyres etc etc so i too myself was sceptical on the accuracy of the software... but then i actually went and did those on the track and have slips to back it up so it was accurate with the allowance of 1mph but not sure if thats to do with the motorplex track not being quite 400m
times im getting now are better than before, and best mph is at 126.86
reports around the internet say its inaccurate by about 5-8% and others swearing by it saying it's just as acurate as the quater.
i guess the best part is being able to see more gauges than available on the factory cluster, and monitoring/recording runs so you can asses at later time when trying different launches, applications of throttle then compare your runs and try better them next time

as much as im dieing to go down and do runs, especially on a night where it is cooler opposed to a 33degree day... i just dont wanna get booted off coz then i wont be allowed onto private days without tailshaft loop, harness and licence :(
ill get one pass and they will say
Turbo2.6L
17-11-2009, 11:28 AM
Cooler weather isn't really a factor, Density altitude & humidity are far more important. Don't forget the track is also a bit longer on a Wednesday as opposed to a private day/Fast Friday/big event.
Also, getting booted on a Wednesday doesn't exclude you from private days. Wednesday's are run by ANDRA whereas private days are run by Motorplex employees...
Post up a timeslip so i can have a looksie at the conditions if you don't mind.

ill post a couple slips when im at home
http://www.gtechpro.net/Products/PASS_detail_en.html <- very similar to what I have, but the difference being it also plugs into obd2 and gets live readings.
im almost certain ill get booted in few runs allowing for wheelspin on a couple too. im more concerned about my door lock barrel dislodging at high speed and as the screw which holds it keeps unwinding and in the process of getting it sorted.

i'll lend you some duct tape. that'll stop it falling out.
so those things speed measure things are 5-8% accurate so at 8% you could be out by 10mph so you actual run anywhere from 116-136mph.
its about as accurate as muppets that say "or my car can run X.XX time becasue my mates car ran a 12 iand chopped him so it must be this fast." its crap
Until you've done it at the track you havn't done shit.

i have a dyno metre thing on my iphone and its pretty fucking accurate.
Got 232 rwhp in dads M3 and when it was dyno'd at MV it pulled 232.4 rwhp.
However agree times dont count until slip produced however.

ill go down when i have shit sorted out providing i can still goto private days after being booted
so u can put ur book away dean
what shit sorted out?
your door handle?
Turbo2.6L
18-11-2009, 10:22 AM
Think of it this way... You're door handle/lock not being in there will be a weight reduction.
Might be the difference between 125.99 & 126mph!
with 405rwkw shouldn't it be running 130mph+ anyway?
Turbo2.6L
18-11-2009, 10:26 AM
Mine ran 130.9 with 409 on ASG's hubber.
Jizz-Lebrity
18-11-2009, 04:09 PM
What was the reading after the VP109 was added though? 409 was with pump fuel..
thats my point exactly
djkice's car makes more power then deans did on race fuel. 405rwkw at tyres is more then 409 at hubs, so it should at least as fast deans. it should run 10.9-11.1@130+mph. cant see that happening tho.
Jizz-Lebrity
18-11-2009, 06:53 PM
Who knows, only one way to find out.
Personally, I don't see at least the upper end of that spectrum being unachievable based on what it's run so far. 11.5 @ 124 on 255/30/20 Sui's, not bad given weight/daytime heat/power/door locks..
The time was a win, posting a false one from a phone was a fail.
vy ss ute m6
18-11-2009, 07:01 PM
even at 380rwkw, should pump more than 124mph...and if it's got a legit 405rwkw should eeeeasily surpass Dean's mark without too much effort
Turbo2.6L
18-11-2009, 09:18 PM
What was the reading after the VP109 was added though? 409 was with pump fuel..
Power reading was 348rwkw on BPT's DD roller. About right for the 130mph with race fuel based on other cars that give 'true' power figures.
Ran many 11.0's @ 128mph on pump fuel & at WAW, not private days where it is proven to drop times by a few tenths.
Also, whilst we're on the subject of times & mph that have been flung around... The quicker the car goes, the lower the mph will be when the car is untouched (generally), not the other way around as you and a few others seem to think Kael. MT's will also rob mph as they are run at half the pressure of street tyres. Another misconception i have noticed a few guys have that 'brag' on other forums.
Running an 11.5 @ 122mph on a private day on street tyres is great, but you can't go around saying that you'll run a 10 by sticking MT's on because it will drop your 60' times by so and so. Predicting times off Iphones is also the ghey... Almost as stupid as blaming door locks for not being able to run down the strip
Sorry if it looks as though i was singling you out Chris, but enough is enough. Run the times or STFU.

Lol. You've said "when" you get kicked out about 5 times in this thread alone.
I agree that you post the times that you have done and not what it should do.
Dean, why would your times be faster on a private drag day compared to a Wednesday night?
on fast fridays, competative nights and private days they move the line forward a few feet, meaning your 60ft times are better as the track is a little bit shorter. i can't rember by how much but it does make a small difference.
reason they do it is that cars on wednesday night arnt wearing out the start line foe the more serious events.
if you want to run your best time before you get kicked out (if your fast enough) is on a fast friday or private day.
on fast friday you get 3 qualitfy runs then it goes into knockout competion. so you might get knocked out straight way and only get 4 runs. on a private day you get more chance to have practise runs, practise launches etc
i didnt actually post a time it should do tho
yes you did
your signiture had 126+mph in it, when you havn't done it.
djkice
19-11-2009, 05:56 PM
thats not a time, thats a speed
yeah i based my assumption that ill get kicked off based on private track day majority passed being below 11.99

It was a "in general" comment that i made, not directed at anyone in particular.
Although i said "time" in my original post, to clarify my position on it all, if you haven't run that time/mph or done fully sick burnouts and outrun the cops in second, don't post it up as something that you have done. What's the point? My car is going to run a 4.999 when i hook up the jet!
Cheers for the info on the differences between a private day and a Wednesday/Friday night at the drags. I never knew that.

I agree that you post the times that you have done and not what it should do.
Dean, why would your times be faster on a private drag day compared to a Wednesday night?
What Esky said.
The difference is actually quite significant. I have timeslips a plenty at home from proper events & plain old Wednesday nights that i have compared. Easily drops a tenth of your 60', which equates to atleast that & usually a little more at the fast end of the track.
My 10.9 was @ 128.xxmph on VP109 with a 1.78 60' from memory, and i recently ran 11.006 @ 122mph on pump fuel at the Pro Stock meet with 1.60 60'. Humidity & density altitude were high for the 11.00, plus there was a 16 knot head wind, hence the low mph but you can see how a prepped track & shorter start line can better times.
If conditions were as good as a regular Wednesday night on that last meet i went to, i would have gone 10.80 on pump fuel.

When i go down i will do 10.7 on 91 octane because i have added 14" wheels and pulled the body off my car. Its super light now which means it will easily do the times. My Iphone told me.
This thread is ghey.

djkice
20-11-2009, 01:01 PM
so when you ran your 10.98 the start line would have been same spot as a proper run drag day or hired track day, in your own words times drop by tenths
Turbo2.6L
20-11-2009, 01:09 PM
Haha NO!
I ran my 10 on a Wednesday night. No prepped lane & no shorter start line.
Regerdless, if you run a 10 on a prepped or non-prepped track & drive it on the street, cudos.
