Well in process of fixing up my daily shitter and thought i would put up some pics.
Bought the car bout 2 years ago and was just a cheap run around car.
Motor finally gave in so dad and i ripped it out and put the original 2.3 ltr out of my red e30 into it however we also rebuilt it ( rings \ bearings etc )
Anyway have now decided to finally finish off the whole thing so have ripped out all the interior. Front panels \ bonnet etc are all off so can respray it the blue my old e30 was.
Anyway have had the interior all fixed up

http://members.ii.net/~Herrald/Grandpa/IMG_3332.jpg
http://members.ii.net/~Herrald/Grandpa/IMG_3334.jpg
Panel was covered in rust and what not so now all sanded back and filled
http://members.ii.net/~Herrald/Grandpa/IMG_3335.jpg
Interior now all fixed up and re done thanks to classic trimmers in morley
http://members.ii.net/~Herrald/Grandpa/IMG_3338.jpg
Genuine E30 Recaro's now recovered
http://members.ii.net/~Herrald/Grandpa/IMG_3340.jpg
http://members.ii.net/~Herrald/Grandpa/IMG_3341.jpg
And this is what colour i will be respraying it. ( Same as my old blue e30 )
http://members.ii.net/~Herrald/Grandpa/P1010016.jpg
Just waiting on new carpet to arrive then interior can be put back together.
Then its a matter of spraying the car panel by panel
Current specs of car.
Rebuilt 2.3 ltr with high comp pistons
Custom Fade + rusted diamondshwartz metallic
Factory BMW LSD
Some crappy Mp3 Deck
Cheap shitty 15" rims which have been redone in silver
Back up rims are the BBS in the blue e30 which are sitting in garage as track rims for red one

Looks good. I always wanted an E30 but I ended up with an E34, the dash in that minus the cluster looks exactly the same as in my car lol. Are those rims really 15" they look big?
nice daily, how much was the retrim? my E36 could do with some retrimmed front seats
adrenalin
11-11-2009, 12:03 AM
Yea definately 15's. And if you think they look big i have 17's on my other one.
For everything Front seats \ rear seats \ all door panels \ rear shelf was around 1300

Yea same blue colour. I was half way through respraying that E30 when i wrote it off. Have 3 litres of paint left hence respraying the black one that colour.
Red e30 i still have it doesnt move to much. This weekend goes in for new exhaust. Hasnt been seen for ages as i put M3 cams into the motor which werent timed properly and ended up shearing the cam gear off the intake cam off.

Alot of work has been done.
Bonnet + Front side drivers door is on.
Panels arent going on till new springs + bilsteins are installed as its easier to install them with fenders off.
Drivers side rear door is off and has been disasembled \ under coated \ filled and ready to be spray painted.
The rear driver side of the car has had dent knocked out \ filled and is undercoated ready to go.
The rear of the car has had rust cut out and new plate welded in ( Still need to finish off ) however most of it is ready for spray paint.
This weekend hope to have rear \ drivers side \ and door all sprayed and put back together.

Have been lazy as its just been to bloody hot to spray the car
Rear end of the car is now complete
Around the rear window is done ( no rust at all which surprised me )
Inside the boot done
Rear passenger side 1\4 panel done.
All that is left is 2 drivers doors and to respray the roof again.

Still not sure what i want to do engine wise.
Currently has a brand new rebuilt 2.3.
I still have turbo setup for this motor however also contemplating buying a 2.5 ltr and turboing that ( after probs with marc's 2.7 has put me off doing stroker turbo )
Sully
28-01-2010, 02:31 PM
afaik it's not the stroker part that's been causing the problems, it's more the complication of turboing a car that was never supposed to be FI and having the end result of good power and something that isn't going to blow up at every given opportunity.
a low boost m20 of any capacity is easy enough to do but once you start looking at 8-9+ psi you're going to run into something that looks like a wall of money and all of it used to belong to you.

when you welded in the floor on drivers side, what did you do to match up odd shaped floor with flat piece of plate?
need to do the drivers side floor on my gq but it's odd shaped and i think beating a piece into shape would be a pain in the arse
also what welder did you use?
cheers dude

Yep pretty much had a sheet of metal. Go over it with an angle grinder and a rough disc ( eats rust ).
Go over it with some wax \ grease \ dirt remover
If you can get a really long Screw Driver.
Hold one side down firmly then using mig Welder start other side and weld it in.
Once you done one side easy enough to do the rest.
Originally was trying with Oxy Acetylene set but it kept warping the metal as it gets to hot.
Mig Welder def way to go and we bought one off ebay for bout $140 and it has worked a treat.

Well
Some really awesome news today :)
Car was started and driven for first time in over a year ! Took a bit to get it going but it is all sweet.
Interior is getting closer and closer. Rear is completely done ( carpet \ seats \ parcel shelf \ door trims \ seat belts etc.
Front wise i just got to put carpet in the front section ( have to cut it to fit around gear lever which will be an absolute bastard ) and finally the driver side door trim to be fitted.
Car is literally 1 - 2 weeks max away.
