View Full Version : SR20DET redtop - less power

My mate has s13 with redtop sr.
on start up, engine sounds like an sr, then once you boost once, the exhaust quietens, doesn't really sound like an sr and isn't really making strong power....

Idle is fine, not blowing smoke, rev is smooth and no fuel cuts...
any ideas?

just started randomly doing it about 2 days ago.
Only recent change is a turbo timer, but that was installed 2 weeks ago now

does it stutter? brothers silvia did the same thing turned out to be the fuel pump

seems to be boosting fine, but no EBC to regulate/monitor. fuel pump is priming and only 4-5 months old

hmmm thats a thought...
I can't see it being fuel pump as it would probably cause fuel cut on boost

On another note, rather then starting a new thread.

Which is the better rocker arm stopper for sr?
Greddy, Tomei, HKS or NISMO? and who can get them for me? :)

Go buy the GKtech ones, they like 60 bucks shipped, same as tomei ones. i saw a friends Tomei RAS when i was installing them, and we compared the both, couldnt tell the different what so ever, pretty sure they both use the same material too.

I don't want just as good, I want the goods. $60 more is a small price to pay to prevent engine damage!

ahhh. We are now talking about my car and to be honest don't remember.
But its only the stock T28 with power fc, BLITZ EBC and pump, I'd say no more then round 16pound.

future plans are HKS 272 cams, HKS cam gears, valve springs, S13 throttle body, NISMO 740cc injectors and new walbro.

go bigger turbo! i made the nistake and now i want to change...

i have a 2871r!!! haha

those cams n shit suit a bigger turbo. i have a mate with a 2871r on his car who made like 360hp atw but it was a laggy 360!

if u want to keep the disco idea then get pon cams or something that can be dropped straight in without valves springs

Before forking out on expensive things spray the afm with contact cleaner, see if that clears it up. The sr afms arnt the best and they will clog up over time, so give that a try first then look at other things like fuel filter and fue pump

disco is only an idea. TD06 would be nice too :)
At the moment I'm just setting up for bigger turbo.
My VCT solenoid is bust as they all do, and i figured why spend the money fixing it if it may happen again. So i went all out. Get the head breathing!

Did you even read the thread, or did you just post to get your post count over 10? The post before yours has the solution to the problem.
