hey i recently put my head unit into me new car and for some reason when i rev above 1k rpm it cits out the music, the CD still plays but no sound comes out? it will happen 80% of the time too, sometimes will work over 1k RPM but then will just cut out randomly?

can anyone tell me how i can make it work properly? the head unit worked perfectly fine in my old car, never had a problem with it...

Thanks

Sounds like it might be the alternator, barring silly wiring errors like earthing speakers to chassis etc.
Using onboard, or external amp?

external AMP now, but it was still not working when i only had Head unit and factory speakers with no amp at all...

Yeah either alternator is on the way out, or your having issues with power supply (eg. bad earthing somewhere) to the head unit and/or amp.

More likely to be the latter if you have no other symptoms like random stalling or dead batteries.

ok update, it works when the car isnt turned on, but it wont work at all now if the car is on... so u reckon that means its the altenator? hopefully it aint the alternator!

cheers for ur help!

Milhouses laser i brought off him ended up with similar problem

when stereo was turned above 17 the car had a 2.5k limiter in all gears ... never got around to fixing it tho ... sold it to BBK and he got it yellowed doing reverse nuts in an industrial area
