hey guys,

im finally at the stage of my crx build where this coming saturday i can take the car to an exhaust shop to have the exhaust done.

basic stats: its a 1.6l running 6psi through a supercharger. Im fitting a set of extractors 4-2-1, won't have a Cat because its pre 86 ... so the question is - what would be the best size of exhaust to fit to create the ideal system?

Im guessing 3inch diameter is a bit big for a small engine, so maybe 2.5inch as largest? any recommendations on a good muffler?

thanks in advance guys.

Cheers
Mike

Any size from around 2.5" up will work fine... you'd probably even find that a 2.25" exhaust would suffice, but no use mucking around when 2.5" would definitely be suitable.

No such thing as "too big" when you're talking about engine performance, but of course, a 4" exhaust on a 4 cylinder will probably sound like poo.

cheer Joe,

i think atm its got a 2.25 but because the extractors are shorter on the secondaries the original exhaust is short by about 30-40cm so its best to be redone.

Lukey Turbo Muffler or something like that ok to use? its only going to be a cheap system.

2.25 will also be alot quieter.. 2.5 will be quite loud.. especially if you are putting a blower on..

2.5 will flow better

depends on the power your expecting to make?
2.5" should be fine, and yes it will be noisy.
