My FD has started to show signs of sickness. I idles ok when cold but after about 10mins of driving vibrations start, with the exhaust making light popping sounds. On full boost it feels weak and misses at high rpm. Rotomotion believe it could be the corner of an apex seal and say if i drive the car softly it shouldnt cause any more damage, which worries me.

With the possibility of a rebuild looking closer i'd like to know how much i could get the work done for. Roto have quoted in the range of 5-6gee depending on if i can get away without replacing the rotors.

Any advice or referals would be appreciated.

i got my engine rebuilt in my rx3 for about $5500 that included hurley seals and bridge porting aswell,they had to replace one housing and rotor aswell though
so it sounds about right mate ask around the other workshops for prices
personally im a rotomotion person through and through but i have never had a reason to go elsewhere

if you can pull your engine out yourself, take it to factory re, or arrange them to take it out. they have very decent prices, and build decent engines.

mate just has done at roto.... ended up at about 8g as rooted housing/rotor.... spoke to lee and he said roto is good build... no dramas... very quick.

If you want a second opinion, Take it to another workshop that specializes in them. Interwebs will get you know where in his instance because we cant physically see/touch/feel in this case, which is kind of important.

Take it to Facory RE or Sanders Racing, Either of those will give un biased sound advice.

On a serious note, just give everyone a call or if you have the time call in and have a word with them. EVERY workshop has good and bad stories so just go with who you feel comfortable handing over your money to.
