Wanted to play around and see what DAB radio is like and what sort of channels we can get in Perth CBD so I picked up one these units:

I was on the hunt for a ipod dock/DAB receiver, didnt wanna get individual ones, so I was all for it, considering it had wifi built in with internet radio streaming aswell to replace my bed alarm clock.

Ordered sunday, arrived tuesday morning. Played around with it and Im highly impressed. Considering DAB+ radios alone are like $200+ from what Ive seen few months ago this one is simply awesome.

Hooked it up to home wifi easily, and checked out all the preset internet radio stations. Theres a fkn shitload loaded on there, Aus wide, and international.
The unit also does USB input and iphone/ipod dock, plus alarm clock

Im no sales person but I cant recommend this product to everyone I know. haha.. So awesome tuning into US rnb/rap radio stations as alarm clock etc. Even tried search by Country "Poland" and found over 100+ alone in there. Polish rap ftw

Can't go wrong when I wake up in the morning to this:

I know Alpine stereos have been digital ready for many, many years... I'd say its true of most half decent decks

Decks with built-in DAB+ receivers are now about 12-24 months away according to Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood & Pioneeer.

The reason is that the Australian govt. was trialling Satellite Radio which is used world wide, but at the last minute, they found it was cheaper to set up DAB+... This put the whole audio industry back 6 months in getting compatible products ready for sale.

If you want DAB+ in the car, we sell the Pure Highway DAB+ receiver for $290. It receives all the stations and can be used in any vehicle as it has both FM Modulator & RCA Output.

Feel free to drop by the shop and see one in action.

Is that the one that sticks to the window and you tune your stereo to it?

That is one way you can install it, yes.

We have been mounting them flushed into dashboards, pulling them apart and hiding the guts of them under seats and just having the displays flushed into the dashboard and also mounting them off the side of centre consoles (at customer requests only)

Had a quick flick through and saw Internet Radio -> Location -> Europe -> Serbia, just over 20 stations in there. Dance, Electronic, Talk, Top40. bit of everything

I picked up an iRiver B30 with inbuilt DAB+ tuner for ~$200 not long ago.

Typical 8GB MP3/Video player, shitloads of adjustments for the audio.

Only fault is the antenna feels very flimsy (it has a small telescopic antenna on it). I run that via the aux-in on the car from time to time :)
