Hey guys as the title says trying to remove the sump from my rb30e in r31 skyline as it was pretty dinged up and leaking, my question is iv undone all bolts etc a removed most things blocking the way, swaybar etc how do i actually remove the sump? there is about 20cm gap between the sump and the crossmember and this isnt enough to remove it because of the baffle from engine :( looking at it i think the only way around it would be to undo the engine mounts and jack up the engine slightly, does this sound right or is there and easier way. Any help greatly appreciated cheers guys Rob :)

it's probably fouling on the oil pickup which sticks down into the sump...

will definately need to raise the engine

Or brace the engine from the top (a thick enough piece of wood held between each strut tower for example), then drop the crossmember aswell.

Brockas is the resident RB-sump remover, and he normally drives really fast over really high railway lines to get the job done.

easiest way is to undo the engine mounts and raise the motor slightly. had to do it in mine
