The problem with a high dollar, is that our fucckass govt will being it back soon to 58c to usd.

For people like me who export 95% of my perf gear, times are getting quiter again.

I def recomend buying car bits from the US, unlike australian companies the yanks are actually good to deal with, great service and good turnarounds.

ditto... was just looking at suspension gear for the shitter...

coilovers, etc.. are dirt cheap, but then they want $400 for freight, which brings it back to the same price i can get it for in aus

Got the kit from a shop called KNS Brakes, he's a vendor on NASIOC forums (biggest Subaru forum in the world).

$150 USD shipping and $1499 for the kit, cheap as hell in comparison to the $4k that crackheads ask here for it.

thing with shipping is most places just slap he rough details into usps calculator (much like we do on australia post) and its certainly not the best/cheapest way to send items.

ive been quoted 100 usd to ship a fuel pressure regulator from multiple shops.... yet can get a set of pistons and rods for the same price expressed for the same price...

on the other hand, cost me $25 to send a map sensor to america which weighed about 100 grams and was size of matchbox

shame the yen hasnt bounced back up as thats where most of my money has been going lately:(

Some postage costs can be quite high especially if they use ups. Usps and fedex are a bit cheaper and it pays to get a few things sent at once and also pays to keep the costs under $1000au so you dont get sluged with gst etc. Places like atomic speedware are good for engine parts and frsports are also good for engine parts along with any oem parts. Both these places are reliable and parts will be on your door in less than a week in most cases. I have ordered on a sunday night and had stuff on my door step thursday morning. They usually say 7-11 days with usps. Fedex is probably a tad cheaper for bigger items like rims etc. With heavier items like engines etc you need to shop around a bit but make sure that whoever you use does all the customs/import paper work at there end rather than you having to do it here or having to use a brooker here.

I used BAX Global for my rims. Cost me $150 AUD shipping + $110 customs duty/tax .etc

Don't forget though that if the US guys are importing goods from overseas, their costs have gone up as their dollar is weak. I've ordered a fair bit of gear for the M3 which is out of Germany, the prices i got from local suppliers are the same as the prices from the US- but then you need to add postage, import duty, etc. Just depends if the local vendor is passing on the savings from exchange rate or pocketing it.

And don't go buying US dollars, they want their currency weak as its the only way they are going to dig themselves out of their hole.
