Please excuse if this is wrong section :)

Car got a yellow sticker back on 7th of last month for exhaust leak and BS oil leak, went over pits about fortnight later (little more i think) and got told by inspector at Kelmscott that the car had been in an accident and repair wasn't up to par, and gave it 12or24hrs to get car home. He had said car had been rear ended and a whole separate rear end was put on (described it has a cut and shut), have been to numerous smash repairs and have said this isn't true as the B pillars are still intact as factory, it has although it had had some repairs done to a bit of the boot floor and the fixed panel the tail lights sit in once in its life (being a 22yr old car)

There is a bit of metal work i wish to repair to the floor plan rail from where it looks like car was lifted by a forklift, and finally found shop willing to do the repair but are pretty booked up.

Anyway, received letter in mail today "Expired Defect Compliance Notice: Demand for Vehicle to be Examined". Currently, I don't think it will be ready by date they have said (one week from today) as I have some other smaller mechanical bits that need to be done before (some suspension bushes). Just wondering what I could do about it?...any chance to get them to extend it without forking out for a whole other inspection?

Also does anyone know a car shop that would repair also be willing to fix the kinks in the floor rail?

:slap: oh car is a 88 CRX.

call dpi you can have the period extended so you can repair the car without it deregistering. Tho you'd probably be better off letting it expire and reregistering, that way you might get another inspector that doesn't shaft you.

OK thanks, wasnt sure if DPI would actually do that - they arent the easiest people to deal with.

I was anyway planning to go to another inspection centre for 2nd inspection. Guy at Kelmscott didnt know/didnt seem to know that much and jumped to alot of conclusions without much thought behind them.

got through to DPI first said they cant extend it, then called back few hours later and lady said they send one and its got a date (in my case the 11th) and then another one 2 weeks after that asking plates to be returned (said i should get that on the 25th) and if my car still isnt up for an inspection by that date to phone.
Is that what you did? dont want to risk a fine or anything, as the DPI change there storys so much.

Also, anyone know who would be able to weld up/repair a a floor rail? Pref SOR?
