What these people fail to understand is that this kind of thing is only racist if they make it racist. It's harmless, innocent fun. A good friend of mine, Len Collard, a very respectful elder in the Aboriginal community here whom has done countless lectures at Uni's INCLUDING UWA and Curtin, and authored various educational programs, found this hilarious. He 'got it.'

These people are just putting spin on this to fuel their own political agenda. If these boongs really wanted to get the right message across about how they're not like this, then they should lead by example and take this on the chin, and then give us a more positive example to stereotype.

My gripe with the R word is how abused and thrown around it is ... honestly, what do you guys still consider of this words power ?. Im right now watching on Nat Geo the Arian Nation, and so on .. a docco about racism, and these guys are whack jobs, most ill in the head, but what to you is racist ?.

Nowadays if there is a slight difference of opinion, its straight away "racist". My neighbour was from Souf Afrika, and is black, and some of the things we would say back and forth to eachother would have some groups go wild, yet we are the best of mates, one of my closest friends ive ever had, and the best neighbour i shall probably ever have/had.

Its such a beaten word ... we live in such a litigated society, where everything must be PC that we apply it to whatever we dont like peronally, meaning i feel, doesnt have to reflect a view, but if it doesnt suit YOU, then label it as racist.

But its such a tence society. Nowdays you reply to someone in a thread as "you bastard skip" or "dickhead maco" and 20 other people who it had nothing to do with get all angry and make that issue, thiers.

saf the problem is that there's too many people around with not enough to worry about in their little worlds so they think that someone saying something to someone else could offend someone else that they don't know, have ever heard of or are ever likely to tell said thing to. then they get up and have an epic whinge about it, the press takes notice and all of a sudden something stupid happens like the word waitress becomes inappropriate.

This reminds me of something i was talking to the missus about yesterday.

We were watching little people big world on foxtel and they kept saying "little people".

I called them midgets and the missus corrected me and said little people.

Whats wrong with midget? Its not exactly a word that means bad things. Its a word that describes a "little person". Not to mention its alot quicker and easier to say. And saying "Little Person" is like saying the word midget is saying they aren't people.

Reading the above comments, I can attribute this problem to two things:

1. political correctness
2. media

Who the fuck invented political correctness!?!? Why can't we call something as they are, instead having to soften up and bend the truth in order not to supposedly offend that very person(s) we are talking about. Hell, if they are the way they are, why can't we have the freedom to comment on it? I see PC as an obtacle to your freedom of speech, nothing else. Who has the true authority over political correctness? Who makes the judgement, and goes off at you if you call a midget, a midget (lol!)

Media. They're in the business to sell their stories. They need stories to sell. The more they can milk any story the better! The more sensationalism and scandal the better! They also skew the public perception of community values and opinion, as they please. Like someone mentioned above, all you need is one dickhead to jump up and scream bullshit, and they're onto it. You read that in the paper, and are lead to believe it is wrong to call a boong a boong. Whereas in reality majority of people would no doubt side with crazy noonga's opinion on these matters.
