hey guys,
I need some one who is able to machine the hub center in the ve wheels out to fit a early model commodore.
Ive spoken to Alliance Rim Repairs and i didn't like the sound of his capabilities.... he basically said he will have a crack and see how we go.
Has any one on here done it before if so who did yas use?
Did you replace the wheel nuts with a larger taper kind??
Cheers mat

go to Alliance. he's fine.

he bored out the centres of my R34 GTR rims (by 0.5mm diameter) to suit my falcon hubs.

cost $40 + gst per rim (so $44 per rim)
prices may have gone up

I did my own,

I started off using a bastard file and it took me an hour and a half to do one wheel. I then used a dremel, it took me about 6 hours all up, cost me 20 bucks for the file and 150 for the dremel and attachments. So it would probably be cheaper to get a shop to do it.

Performace Modifications in ozzie park, used to do all my rim mods

Dont do it yourself dodgey as!! Tell a machine shop the propper diameter and then the rim will locate properlly! Less chacne of vibrations and poor ride!

I heard Leo Gomers was THE SHIT when repairing wheels, but also remember reading he shut down? His shop on Gibbs St wasn't there last time I went past. :(

wouldve been vertical borer as his lathe can/could only do up to 17" wheels..

Hahahah its sounds dodgy but i sat there with a wheel off the car and did small bit by bit whilst rotating the wheel. going back to the car and checking fitment regularly.

There is a good DIY on ls1.com.au that shows you how.
I did it with the aim to save some cash. Didnt realise the hard work and man hours that needed to be put in.

And the fact it cost more to do it yourself hahahaha

For anyone wanting to do it themselves all you have to do is remove the lip inside the wheel and file it flush with the rest of the hole. Which removes some of the dodgy aspect some of the non holden owners above are mentioning. Its like 2mm or something.

here is a picture for reference

In the above photo the red line shows the level the rims need to be at. The section below that is the bit that needs to be removed.

If anyone already has a dremel and would like to attempt this send me a PM and ill explain it in full detail.

At the end or the day his wheels fit and he got a dremel to show at the end of it, so cant be all bad.

Gommers in Cannington is still open,we use them on a regular basis for work
Dropped 22s off to be machined for a new 300C today
All his work is faultless
The name of the place is Hydfix as ownership has changed but the quality is still awesome
