track wasnt too bad. tried a very old set of 17" MT ET's i had and ran a best of 11.026@124mph & 11.081@128mph when it wasnt flooding.
Still had wheelspin off the line and need to do some more fine tuning to fix the top end speed. 660 speeds were 168.xxkph.

14's from 5LTR EATR? That the one that chops everything V8 in sight?

Yea i'm planning on running it at the first meet in late october :D
Apparently he chops LS1's hard iirc? Remember something about him wanting to line you up...
In all honesty though, could've just been having troubles on the runs i watched. Just seemed funny cause i remembered the arguments on here when i seen it lining up

i went down there one time. got there at 5:30, lined up for ages (they delayed the start although it wasnt raining), after the first 10 or so cars went down it started to rain, looked like it was going to ease up but didnt. as soon as it struck 8, they called it game over.
went to the front gate and asked whats the changed of getting a refund since i didn tget a run etc and she just said u only get free passes if its cancelled before 8..
was pretty pissed off given i had 5 or 6 mates make the trek down

i was there last night having a bit of a watch. recognized a few from here. Shauno, saw your runs and 03xr6t saw you blitz it! nice work.
i was impressed with a white evo 6 that was there last night. im still not sure if it was real or a fake. it did do a front wheel skid at the start but one of the take off's we thought we saw all 4 wheels grip ??? anyways, should be back down next week if its good / better weather. pretty bumbed about the rain but

Righhtttttttt..........
I had all types of issues... after the track got dried...i re-boosted it up and decided to do some good launchs 5-6000rpm (was hesitant too do this as I have destroyed 3 G/B previously doing this) nailed launch but just spun 1st through to 2nd was crazy thought i was going to jump lanes as i was crossed... track was still wet.... ran mid 13 then...widh i had of had boost right and launch hard when it was dry then i wouldn't be having this bombardment!
Im confident with a little more prep this time... i'll be getting the 12's comfortably.. i dont wanna bang on here but you all need to know not everything was running right.... .. just got to get my launchs 60fts right..
In responce to tha v8 crap... comes with territory i know but i also know i have genuine 284BHP@all4's u do tha math!!

I'm going to go against the bandwagon and say kudos JBone, you've got something different.
A turboed FWD car isnt most peoples cup of tea, but a little turbo 4banger in a light car can be quite abit of fun. I have a ST162 celica that runs a 3SGTE in FWD and the first time i got was a 14.2. By the end of the night i was down to 13.3 and got a personal best of 13.0 at 180km/hr. Traction in a FWD car is always going to be hard and add that with the power curve of a turbo motor it creates some issues.
Practice makes perfect and if you're getting a trap speed of 180ish km/hr a 12s will be on the cards if you get the launch down pat.
With plates like 5LTR EATR its going to raise eyebrows haha.
Also the 5LTR in the commo was shite from factory. Of course he doesnt mean that he can beat every 5LTR that has 50k spent on it, but drive a VS commo with a 5LTR in it and they only thing they do for me is make a nice tune. A LS1 or LS2, thats another story..

Dude, my car has potential to run 9's... But it doesn't!
If i stripped it, through a powerglide, 9" and 4 link in, ran full slicks etc etc it would, but i haven't done it so don't boast about it. Making excuses is the oldest trick in the book.
Power isn't the only factor as to whether or not you'll run good times.
Only reason i was even interested in watching your car last night is because you big noted it in your showcase thread and i thought it was gonna be quick. I could swear you said it could run 10's? What mph did you run?

That means sweet fuck all after you boast about how quick it is. Golden rule - your car is, by no means, a 10, 11 or 12 second car, until it runs that time.
Making excuses just looks pathetic. I'm not criticising you, but a suggestion for the future - I'd do alot more walking, and alot less talking. Actions speak louder then words.

Maybe read previous posts, then make a judgement. Noone is criticising the guy for driving skills.
Just a lesson that actions speak much louder then words. Proof is in actual times, not expectation/dreams/hopes/aspirations/braggin/etc.

Im not saying anything about driving skills. I'm saying about the conditions vs the car. I'm just saying we are here for the same reason why do people criticize and why do you have to prove yourself with 1/4 mile times i don't understand this. Am i missing something or are people just wankers.

I cop plenty, i dont give a toss, I build my car for me, not to impress others.
I have no issue with the plates, or the car, or the driver, but when you go around sprouting power figures and will chop this and chop that, then you fail to do so, have to expect a bagging (especially around here)
Actions speak louder than words.

wasn't that be4 the rain though because i swear i saw you drive out of the line up area. after the rain it looked pretty slippery even though they dried it. Im not doubting Jbone's car or his abilities and im sure he will get his car running some very quick times in the future. oh and did anyone see the tonner blow the box in the snake pit then catch on fire.

Until a cam only lsX hoses you...easily. Then they're winning :)
lsX motors are still 5.7L, so don't fit the plates.
The late AU 5L Falcons still only ran high 14s (mid 14s if you got a freak). Again, I don't know what the last of the 5L VT Commodores ran, but I don't think they would be much quicker.

Biggest bit of advice would be to try and be smoother with whatever you are doing. Ride the clutch more and just get off the line so you don't spin initially. Once your off the line properly go for your life. You must be getting severe axle tramp which is not only bad for your times but really bad for your driveline.

I'm not trying to make smart comments i was just seeing if your quickest time was be4 of after the rain because i thought u left thats all. look i am just trying to defend my mate from comments that don't really need to be said. oh Number plates don't really matter some people have some i don't like but i don't mind its not my car. Jbone's 1/4 mile times were pretty bad but can be better just like my car hopefully it will be better next time i run it.

At 107-109mph you can definitely run a high 12. Mid 12 at a stretch. Probably not low 12s. Definitely not 11s.
I've run 12.6 at 108mph and that was with a 1.8 60 foot time so you will really need to nail the launch and the changes.

any half decent ECU can remove the speed cut, and you wouldnt have a speed limiter for a short ratio GB (what ratio's are you running?)

Good times, street tyres or MT's?
I got my best run at the end of the night after the burnouts on a hot lap. i.e did a run and returned to do another straight after.
11.165@131.19mph (211.12kph) was my best with all the others below 11.8@129mph.

nah it's not. it's basically ready. but im not bothering. Hence the dedicated shell and new motor.
I want to drive a manual again. 3 speed auto = fail for highway cruising.
unless your prepared to put in a 4 point cage for sub 11.00 i'd keep your car where it is.
I have run sub 10.7's on slicks and when they pulled me up they told me to pack it in. so i just put the street tyres on and continue racing.
all they are worried about is the 1/8 & 1/4 et's. or if your faster than 100mph by 660 mark, but as long as you have the minimum safety stuff to run in super street your golden.

The rules for sub 11.00 passes are the same as super sedan.
For 10.00 - 10.99 you need
4 point cage
4 point harness
Fire proof driving suit, gloves and boots
Window net or arm restraints
Longer wheel studs front and rear
SFI rated flywheel/flexplate and harmonic balancer
If it a manual you need a SFI rated steel bellhousing / or trans shield for autos.
Battery isolator
Tailshaft loop
UDL ( unlimited drag licence )
Vehicle log booked and tech inspected every 2 years
And if you run under 10.00 you need a 6 point cage and a 5 point harness.
Hope that helps. :)

Huh? The only real noticeable difference is the cage and harness. Harness is as easy as simply removing when on the street, and if correctly built, the cage should barely noticeable.
Step up to sub 10.00passes is slightly more with the side bars to the cage. Still these can be removeable also.
No real difference, aside from cost.

I haven't ever experienced a track like last night before. My first 2 runs of the night, no worries. After that, it all went downhill though. I was launching at 3-4,000rpm (very low for a motorbike), and just couldn't get any traction. Last 2 runs of the night I tried granny launching (getting rolling slowly, then feeding the power on), and even while rolling, still no traction. That's too scary for me on the motorbike, so just letting off the accelerator and getting grip again is the safest option. Here are my times from the night, in order.
Time – ET - Trap Speed - 60’
6:06pm - 10.994 - 130.43mph/209.00kph - 2.057
6:32pm - 10.897 - 133.92mph/215.52kph - 2.054
At this point, I was very excited, as I was heading towards a new PB. How wrong I was. :(
7:13pm - 12.617 - 124.65mph/200.60kph - 2.813
8:01pm - 12.808 - 129.12mph/207.79kph - 3.207
8:51pm - 14.297 - 121.13mph/194.93kph - 3.074
Then I tried granny launching. Still didn’t work.
9:28pm - 14.613 - 111.11mph/178.81kph - 3.156
9:42pm - 13.328 - 126.4mph/203.42kph - 2.970
So I retract some of what I have said about crap tracks. I was getting better traction in take offs on Tonkin Hwy on the way home (trying to figure out where the hell I was going wrong) than I was on the drag strip.
Also saw this Evo 8 MR that the guy bought from Fabcar recently. I only saw him running 13.8, but don't know if he got better than that.

We thought so as well. He was running 14s all night, then last pass of the night, he busted out a 13.7!! I know it has an aftermarket can (he changed it to a softer one worth $120 from a wrecker because the one it had when he bought it was stupidly loud). Don't know what else it has, but there aren't any serious mods.
Yorik
06-10-2009, 12:02 PM
That'd be one of my bikes. Apparently it has larger jets then standard, so it might have had a bit of a rebuild in the past, it's doen 54,000kms and goes pretty damned hard for a 250 4 banger. I think with a decent launch and more clutchless upshifting (foreign to me, just hate it) that I can get a high 13.5..
Time was a 13.791 btw and although it was a good launch, it could be better and I only clutchless shifter 3rd-4th and 4th-5th..
It goes surprisingly well IMO, nothing crazy though. The conditions were just perfect for it. I could get it warm before the line (it runs cold) and launching at around the 16-18krpm mark by dumping the clutch it would slip at around 14krpm until the drivline caught up with engine.
It terms of mods, it just has upgrade headlights, LED instrument lights and double bubble screen. As Kilma said I changed it back to a stock can as the one I got was astronomically offensively loud.
EDIT

Can't be arsed converting the MPH for each one, but everything from an 87 to a 92 MPH in those runs.
Second to last run has low trap speed as I sat up and slowed down before the trap as I thought I had crossed the line already. I had my eyes glued to the tacho for the 19krpm changes, which makes me laugh pretty hard and I was using my peripheral vision to keep in the lane. Hardcore tinted screens (ambulance style tint) don't really let much light through.. I was pretty annoyed with myself for sitting up as I knew it could've been faster. Made up for that on the last run.
