K guys, Ive just picked up my rims for the widebody 32 im building. Im pretty confused as to what tyre sizes I would be best off running
The rims are
Front 18" x 9.5"
Rear 18" x 10"
Current front tyres are 245/40 and rears are 265/35
Would I be best running 40 profiles on the back as well? Also what going to be the easiest size buy find on the shelf and what can i squeeze on (width wize) if I get stuck?
Thanks guys
265/40 will have a much higher sidewall than 245/40
search for a tyre size calculator and compare the sizes, you want the same O.D.

such a vague question.
what do u want? , stretched look or the fattest tyres u could possibly fit without excessive bulge?
could fit anything from a 215 and 315 on those rims if u really wanted to

what would be wrong with running staggered rims on a gtr??
say a 255 45 17 up front and a 295 35 18 at rear?

Nothing if you can get the outer rolling diameter exactly equal between the two sizes(unlikely), otherwise attesa will think its always slipping and jump between loading up the front wheels and not, causing driveability issues.
Considering guys have these problems when they run slightly different widths from front to rear, i think your just inviting trouble.
There is no need to mess around with sizing on gtrs when front and rear can take decent size rim/tyre combos anyway :)

To be honest im not huge on the streched tyre look. Im more chasing "best bang for buck" tyres to suit the rims. Also looking at sizes that are going to be the easiest to get of the shelf

Does stretching tyres increase the chances of the tyre failing or peeling off the rim?

i never had a tyre peel over and mine were stretched hard..8inch rim with a 205/18inch tyre stretched on and from the look of the jap drift cars they stretch even harder and never seem to roll the tyre? then again..your rim will get FUKT hard on pot holes

yes, depends how hard it is stretched. one of the sil guys entered a burnout comp at WAW with a space saver stretched over x7 rims. long story short, lots of smoke, then a lone tyre emerges from the smoke and rolls away

^ from memory that was 5th gear, 400 odd hp or sumthing whipping nuts and it lasted a few minutes before it came off. and that was towards the more extreme end of the scale
something like a 205 (like 30 or higher profile...) stretched onto an 18x8 will have no dramas

Thanks for the info guys. I had a look on this page

Its got a pretty nifty calc that reccomends a 255 width on the rear and a 240 on the front.
I dont think i'll have any issues running 245/40s front and rear ?

you should be ok - 255s are hard to get anyway for some reason. though if i were you id get the 265 for that 10" rear rim. 265/35isnt far off from 245/40 (just over 5mm less sidewall).
