picked this up in bumfuk in 2007.. (down in Gnowangerup)

Its a TF Corty Sedan chopped into a Ute and put on a Hilux Chassis.

it sat around for ages untill we moved into new house and i finally got my shed built so i stripped it down for its rebuild.

got a new chassis for it a few months ago.. and today i put the cab on the new chassis. still needs more lowering work.. but i ran out of grinder blades for today.

When i got it i gave it a wash

302 Clevo was in the bay. i pulled it out this year and sold it off.
http://i701.photobucket.com/albums/ww15/P100_Ute/Corty-Ute-Engine.jpg
this is how it sat with no engine/tray
http://i701.photobucket.com/albums/ww15/P100_Ute/Ute-Tray-Off-6.jpg
pulled the cab off.

http://i701.photobucket.com/albums/ww15/P100_Ute/ute/Cab-Removal-6.jpg
cut the floor out for the chassis rails and sat it on its back for about 3 months untill today
http://i701.photobucket.com/albums/ww15/P100_Ute/ute/Cab-On-Its-Back.jpg

this is what i did today..
i finished hanging stuff up in the shed so i had more room on the floor. so after that i got motivated to work on on the ute.. so spent about 2 hours playing with it.
cut some more out of the floor.. only had 2 grinder blades left so had to make do with what i had coz cbf driving to bunnings.... so the utes still not finished been lowered... i need to lower the front still by quite a bit.. cut the front apron off and put a sporty one on there that covers the original chassis.. that should give me another 50/70mm lower @ the front..
so anyhow heres some pix..

i had to tip it form its back.. to normal so i tied some heavy duty rope to the roof and used that to support it while i got the engine crane under it to lower it to the ground.

the old tray got this.. coz it was a heavy peice of crap. with 2 people we struggled to move it. made from heavy steel.

proberly a flat tray for now. but will look at making a weld-body also later on

Awesome mate.

its gonna run a T5 box.. so hopefully i wont break them.. i know ur drift falcon has gone thru a few :S i havent broken a T5 yet.. so im proberly not thrashing it enuf.

now hack out the rear chassis and get some decent size tyres on the rear

that would be good. but for now im just gonna notch it so i can lower it and still have travel.. at the moment its sitting diff on chassis and its 120mm from deck to the rails.. i'll be putting adjustable coilovers all round so i can keep it low and wind it up if i need to go anywhere with kerbs and speedhumps.

i got this to cut out at work when the programmer guy programs it for the plasma cutter. taking his sweet time tho..

Must be confusing me with someone else. My T5 has copped plenty of abuse but it hasn't blown up. Still using the original 300,000km one. And my car isn't a drift falcon :P Ive only tried drifting once last year!!

Are you going to run the 351 with the t5? Or an e-series 4.0L??

notches are highly illegal so if you want a trailer pony go for it but in wa you cannot get them regod , over east they can be done.

yeh i know theyre illegal.. but untill i get pulled over and possibly yellowed... they wont know. it hasnt been registered yet.. and i havent tried to.

*edit* just remembered theyres a bloke geting his notch passed at the moment. its legal with coilovers because its limited to suspension travel.. so ya cant air out and drag along the ground...

with airbags the notch is illegal.. which is what kids use it for. dragging sparks.

thats what he said anyhow. thats how its geting passed by the dpi

Nice work, always good to see something different especially when its DIY.

Can you get the chasis notches engineered (with out bagggzzz) by doing a chasis flex text? I know of a couple of older full chasis cars with modified rear ends that affect the chasis rails that have had this done to be engineered and licenced.

i dunno the answer to that..
but i did some more work today.

well i was talking to my grinder and he wasnt happy with the amount that was cut out yesterday.. so back to work today..
Good thing.. the hilux chassis is now hidden when ya look parallel with the corty chassis == fkn beauty coz thats what my aim was.
Also i can raise the suspension slighlty and the cab still sits damn low
Bad thing. now the wheels scrape on the inside guard..so i'll have to tub the front for clearance

also i dropped a bench seat in it to see how much room i had to move in there.. and suprisingly.. i have loads.

hopefully i can do that tonight and have a look at it tomorrow.

P100_Ute

bad news.. programmer got some co-ordinates wrong somewhere and it didnt come out correctly to scale when i put it over the template i have.

its about 15mm skinny along the sides.. the top is right.. and the holes dont line up. theyre just for welding so dont need to be perfect. but i gave it back to my supervisor to get the programmer to look at the one i cut compared to the template so he can fix it.

heres some pix anyhow. wont be much different later on when its cut correctly.

Excuse me for sounding daft, but what are said notches for?

stumps.
16-09-2009, 09:17 AM
It allows the diff to sit where the chassis rail used to be. Making the car even lower.

He will cut the section of the chassis between the notch, the notch will then become the new chassis rail.
