Good to see you finally posted her up mate :)
Have been hearing about her for a while on fordxr6turbo.com.
Good power and nice tastefull interior and exterior mods to boot. I love the FG's in octane, looks bombed!
You going to take it down the 1/4 when it re-opens??
Hope to see ya out for a cruise some time.
This photo takes the cake!

hahaha thanks for the comments guys.

I also recon these 20s look pretty small on it, one of two reasons why I am going to be changing them, second reason being needing it to stop better.

Pretty sure Tocchi is insiprsed by slow and steady wins the race :P Nah his car looks mint imo. Anyone taking bets on when he will chuck a blower on?

Tocchi

im not modifying it... why should i?
ive got a drag car and im paying/picking up the 32 in a week or 2... its pointless to spend the coin on the FG... street cars with power are dying these days

Pretty sure Tocchi is insiprsed by slow and steady wins the race :P Nah his car looks mint imo. Anyone taking bets on when he will chuck a blower on?
i wont. but if i did it would be the low mount TT kit ;)

thats impressive, gotta love the power she's making!!!
nice to see there are more FG's part of the forum
you've got plenty more left around the guards to fit some big rims ;-p

should get a decent time down the strip with that kind of power!

good work

The colour is very like that... Either you like it or you don't. I'd say 1 in 3 would like it.

Everyone I have seen with the colour is trying to do the black and orange theme.

I wouldn't mind deleting spoiler tho :P

goood power figures tho :)

djkice
18-08-2009, 05:43 PM
yeah if shits fixed right first time round i wouldnt need to break balls, been a year now and has been to service many times yet stilll leaks oil.

despite numerous other problems i wont mention.

think it's fair to be a bit picky with your pride and joy, not to mention replacing bricks every so often because of leaks gets annoying.

PAGZ

Cant get over the barra6 imo the best motor to come out of an australian production line. Isit true the fg xr6t uses the bf typhoon running gear?

djkice
18-08-2009, 05:53 PM
runs a higher compression ratio, smaller compressor wheel off a gt28, different cai, different exhaust, better injectors, fuel pump, plenum & turbo manifold... the rotation of turbo is different too... rest pretty much same... runs 10psi stock

furthermore f6 has better pistons, lower comp ratio 8.47, same turbo as previous models, larger injectors and more boost 13.3psi i think it was?

both turbo varients have the upgraded exhaust housing which has a larger flapper and hole, can still be made larger tho... somewhat close to equivilent to a ported exhaust housing on a BF

Torquen
18-08-2009, 05:54 PM
^^^Dunno about that, i know the BF mk II use the BF Typhoon running gear, but i think the engine had a makeover for the FG's.

a sweat aint an oil leak tho.. pretty sure yours would of had two of the bolts in the timing cover shortend to stop a leak.. yours must be the only fg with a continous oil leak plus its far more fun giving you the run around :):)

What was the deal? Bolts too long so they bottomed out before pulling the cover down enough?

djkice
18-08-2009, 08:21 PM
think the first lot of FGs were effected by the problem... apparantly the machine that fastens the timing case to the block was loaded with the wrong bolts and the timing case sits about 0.5mm away from the block which causes the leak.

I don't know what work was preformed on mine, retorque bolts and reseal or maybe cut bolts dunno.

unless that wasnt the direct cause and comming from somewhere else as well.

If the problem is recognised by Ford there should be correct length bolts available as a revised part. At least thats how Holden works...

I have many options.. hard to decide
- get the silver spokes painted orange
- get the silver spokes painted black and get orange lip
- get orange lip and rim as is spokes
- no lip, just default black and silver.
- no lip, all black
- studs can come either black or silver

china? i remember reading somewhere they were cast in japan or parts of it anyway when i was looking for specs on offsets and tyre fitting

as for people against rims, i have had this comment alot but when these people saw the rims in the flesh they totally changed their tune and mentioned the pics dont capture them well. not saying you all will change your mind but some might

i wanted something different and still to be 20" as you can see the 20's look small on fg's and not much to choose from that clear brembo's. i trial fitted some 19's/18s of a few different rims and well they look couple inch's smaller everytime. i was going to get the silver spokes powder coated black but i wanted to see how they looked first, same with stripe as that can be removed when doing the spokes. when im bored ill muck around with them.

please show me a FG with rims that dont look small on them.
my 19s look like 17s, Ross's 20s look like 18s
Kice's rims are mostly black, so it blends in with tyres, so they actually look larger

Similar issue with HSV E series. The bodies are just so large, that almost any wheel looks small. Just look at the 20# factory wheels on the GTS/Clubsport.

I'm not personally a fan of the rims, but each to their own. As suggested above, if they were all black they could look hot.

Waiting for my alumin bracket to be finished atm... wanted the car back asap.

Regardless wont touch anyway, have trialed every way possible for it to touch. Should be fine for the moment. It's got plenty of clearance.

Just the IC piping, oil drain, water lines etc were the tight fits.

Also the heater hoses at back extremely close to dump. They have been heatproofed temporarily and will be getting them pushed further back with briaded lines.

also restricted by how much cash you have.

you budget a certain amount to build but then there is like a million variances which you didnt budget. you run out of money quickly (depending on how much money you have).

xtreme ford tuning in midvale did all the work.

engine is out of the shop car however was freshened up and copped a few extra bits

im still on my standard diff bushes and first set. they still seem good lol :/ for how much longer with almost double the torque.... not quite sure

power is 425rwkw @ 17psi which is the max of the standard 7psi spring. overall compared to the gt3582r its a bit lazier by about 5-8rwkw untill 3500 or so then it makes craploads more.

i assumed the gate came with the 10psi installed.

doesnt really matter i guess, cant get grip anyway... once i get some decent wheels and tyres, it will be wound right up :D

I updated the initial page with all the specs ego.. if you curious!

Pulled out the Alpine stereo out. It's going to Audio Image some time this week to get Pioneer PRS system put in with a 3 sixty.2. Mind you with no stereo ATM I realized how loud my turbo whines and how much my stereo helps with traction... it's so bad without stereo holding the rear down.

Then going to put the second wastegate spring and get it retuned so I can crank the power up seeings no more yellow.

Great looking car, saw it last night as well. The orange stripes around the rims are eye catching.

djkice

basically the rear is running the wrong profile thats why it sits a little higher.

im pretty sure ill get the proper profile after i get rid of the tyres, say motorvation maybe.

fpv badges simply cosmetic... because they look better. they have a black base opposed to blue and have nothing on my car which is blue. despite the only thing not fpv on my car is the body kit... that and it easily gets mistaken for a GS until people get owned :)

Why do people put chev badges on a Holden?

Looks nice Kice :) Thought about putting on a bootlip spoiler??

Lol, it's like the idiots who put fpv badges on their lasers...Even worse when they're 1.6l, non-turbo , carby variants.

Aside from that, I like it. Ever thought of tinting the taillights and painting the exhausts black?

PS. You can get black Ford badges.

I would have totally debaged it if I could but the plastic moulds suck to work on and I fucked one trying already trying.

Tinting lights maybe in future. They exhausts get black in about 10 minutes of driving anyway, why paint them... They do take 30 mins to clean after that though FML

I would think, people that put FPV badges on a laser or something shit, is more for a joke and not actually serious.

duste
08-11-2010, 04:41 PM
Oh no, they're serious, trust me on that one lol. It was a genuine group buy on the FordLaser forums several months back. The mod lists of the majority who have them consist of lowered springs, sound systems, tint, body-kits and more recently 'audi running lights'. Fuck yeahhhhnah.

Anyway, sorry for the hijack.

Exorbitant pricing, but http://planetauto.homestead.com/chromeemblems.html

I need a different set for my own as a more subtle exterior mod. Good for the trainspotters that know the model well but not overt enough to get the wrong attention, I hope.

Agree on FPV badges not belonging on a Ford, these would be an improvement IMO. Nice car though man, and I didn't notice them when I saw it at the shop anyway :)

says you who low mounted...... WEAK!!!

i got enough trouble with the pingpingpingpings already...

points for excessive noise even before 9pm and measured lower than 90db in the end!!!(didnt argue it coz didnt want to go over pits)

then sticker for too low, air filter(which was boxed).... and suspected NOS(had already slapped sticker on at this stage). Told him doesn't need NOS :D :D :D :D

god forbid having a external gate... (with that said its flanged so can unbolt the plumb back section anytime i want. i.e. Motorvation).

really surprised how laid back some pits inspectors are, dont even check car... some leave sticker half stuck on so you can take it off etc etc then you get the pingpingpingpingS who make you change your diff bushes which arnt even cracked

Cars looking good Chris and so are the rims, well better than before... So why the change in your stereo set up, needing to go louder to stop hearing the turbo?

djkice
10-11-2010, 01:25 PM
Got into money trouble and sold stereo to fix broken ZF

Pioneer makes very nice gear, especially the PRS speakers etc. Despite I thought I would support Audio Image by having gear they sell in my car... They do extremely high quality installs.

That and the stereo was out of the car while the boot was getting redone so was optimum opportunity if I wanted to change stereo systems, which in the end I took advantage of.

Decent subs! have done a couple systems using them. Just hope you are powering them off the PRS-D2000SPL amp aswell to do them justice. Also PRS splits need BULK power behind them, like minimum 140wrms, otherwise they sound scratchy. When set up right with decent power behind them, they are some of the most amazing sounding speakers you'll hear. What processor are you using to run your system?

/work mode.

Budget restricting at the moment...

Stage 1
2x TS-W3002D2
2x PRS-D1200M
1x PRS-D4200F
1x TS-C171PRS
1x TS-D1620R
1x 3sixty.2

Stage 2
2x PRS-D1200M
1x PRS-D4200F
1x Optima D34

Besides I am going for SQ so flood of bass may not be the best idea. Hence why I will see how it sounds and then decide if I will do the stage two of the stereo or not
