Hey hey..
I have an S13 (94 blacktop SR running Haltech E8 w/plug in loom) with a wiring problem... me being a complete spanker cut some wires that looked fairly useless without leaving it running to see if it fucked anything... and it did. Basically turn key now and nothing happens - no dash lights, no fuel pump prime, nothing.
Can't for the life of me figure it out either, have had the car started though by basically running constant power through relays (EFI, Fuel Pump, etc)...
The further I look into the loom the more chopped up it seems from previous owners too. So i'm wondering a) if anyone has any tips, hints, whatever...
and b) if there's any garages or auto sparkys, etc that you'd recommend..
Or better yet someone who's good at this and wants some cash work.
Also anyone who has a spare loom for it PM me if keen to sell.
Cheers in advance for any replies.

did you try rejoining those wires that you cut?...

how many wires did you cut.. cant you just reconnect them?
edit: too slow

Well if it was working prior to you pissing with it maybe try reconnecting the colors back together and start again without assuming anything
Edit damn i type slow

Yarp thought of that, there was 1 wire going into a multi-block type of deal and going to all sorts of shit, plus a couple more i gave the chop.
Stupid eh :)
I dont know fuck all about car wiring or wiring at all haha but I'm thinking more and more that they've run some extra power lines to the ECU off a relay that kicks on at ignition on eh.
This happened about 4 months ago and i've been working away etc so I'm struggling to remember what we've tried etc.

If that wire was a bit heavier gauge going into that multiblock it sounds like that was the earth for the ancillaries and would explain a few things

Hmm i thought i do seem to remember something about thinking it was an earth. Brain is fried with work plus im a dumb pingpingpingping obviously.
You reckon 1 earth point for other shit ie fuel injection, ignition, etc, etc eh?

yes 1 bad earth can fuck with alot of things

Will have a fuck with it tomorrow again, probably cause more damage than good haha.
dont happen to know earth colours for EFI, ignition, fuel pump, etc? I have a diagram but it's shit spec scannage as usual. Thinking i could earth them all one by one and see what happens.
worst case cook ecu and end up taking it to a sparky and pay a million dollars :P

all will be black, unless some ones changed it on purpose which i doubt.
if ur unsure get a multimeter/testglobe out to check earth.
sounds like youve cut some ecu wires or some important shit

yes and no earthing systems can get quite complicated. But more likely it was a wire that runs from the key to tell the relays for that equipment to turn on.

Cheers for your help will have a fuck around tomorrow, would be nice to drive the pile of cash sitting in my garage doing nothing. Spewing.

I would look under those relays and see what colour wires are running them you will be looking for the 2 smaller gauge wires going into each of the relays, write these colors down now go to that mulitblock and see if they are the same if this is the case and you can confirm that they are power leads, then i would look at running a new power lead from the ignition and test.
if all the wires are the same color coming out of that multitap its usually earths

Diagram

When looking at that diagram theres a lead that controls the fuel pump relay ignitor relay and coils.
Look at the key switch then above that there's is the coils relay now see to the right of that how all those lines take off in different directions that will most likely be your multitap

oh and your dash lights not working will most probably be the same reason that the power switched line has been cut but that could well be a different lead.
Happy hunting

I'd sound dumb if i say... which ones that take off in different directions huh? :P
Thanks heaps for the links.. will print off tomorrow and get further into the confusion haha

Does someone feel like Ms painting the lines on that diagram he should be looking at?
Im going to bed

Go back to basics,
If youve got no dash lights, youve got no ignition relay clicking on. Why?
Do you have power at the Ignition switch, if yes find Ignition relay, Do you have a power, good earth, switching power?
Id say your problem lies somewhere in there. Unusual for a car not to crank, as thats a complete seperate system, id say your missing the power up at the key
