Anyone have experiences with the following seats?

Velo GP90
http://www.searleraceequipment.com.au/shop/view/velo_gp90/34

Sparco Rev5
http://www.searleraceequipment.com.au/shop/view/sparco_rev_5_plus/40

The fact the Velo has an XXL option may be handy as im not very "dainty"..

Need something that will allow low mounting in the car for good headroom, good support, and comfortable enough (though the car is no longer a daily driver).

Any opinions welcome!

not all japanese people are tiny and neither are all brides.

I am a fatty myself.. I bought a cobra seat as they offer wide models...

Im no longer using it.. However if you just want something reasonably priced and reasonably comfortable its not a bad way to go..

further to the above, will seats such as those above be ok with the std 3 point seatbelt?
Or should I be looking for a recliner since the car is still used on the street?

OMP make nice seats and are quite affordable.

I think some people still use standard belts with a fixed back seat but it's not really a good idea.

If you're going to the trouble of swapping out seats, then a harness isn't a big deal.

My OMP 2" 4 point clip in was only $180 from go gear.

yeha, i had normal seat belt and harness for my fixed back in previous S13. Just attached the buckle to the seat with an eye bolt, or whatever they are called, and attached harness to that.

but if you are going to do track work with a 4 point harness, your ideally want a cage. since in the event of a roll over, you cant move out of the roofs way with a 4 point harness

Will be getting a harness as well, no issue there.

But, If running a fixed seat, I can see it being an issue if the side bolsters are higher than my body, its going to compromise the ability of the seatbelt...
Unless I want to drive everywhere with harness + seatbelt both on = gay.

Yeah I know what you mean, the lap belt won't sit against your body.

You just need to undo the bottom seat belt mounting point and run it through the belt opening on the seat.

See here.

Then when you want to clip it in, you will need to run the clip through the belt opening on the other side.

GP90 is what i have as a drivers seat, its comfortable and light (which many cheaper seats are not) and i can use either the 4-pt harness for th track or the standard seatbelt (although it doesnt sit in quite the same position across your body)

I got the lot through Tony Flood, but Searle Race Equipment in Welshpool usually have the GP90 in various sizes in their store so you can try them out

I have 2x cobra diolen sebring s seats in the red car.

I orig bought the normal version, but since found out the way i was sitting in it was unsafe, so went out and purchased the wider version, much better once you tighten yourself in.

I like the suzuka for daily driving, i wanted the wings.

1.4k a pop for my seats though

What are those Recaro's worth?

It's not my car.
I just found the image to use as an example.

But like everything Recaro, I would guess somewhere between expensive and ridiculous.

Definately a big yes to the velo. Got two in the rally car (1 is the XXL) and it's very comfortable & secure, we've had a few "moments" and the only reason they didn't turn into accidents is the fact that i wasn't having to try and hold myself in the seat while saving the car.
