HI everyone, this is my project thats been going on for the past 3 or so years and is almost finished-

1998 subaru wrx PLAY3R:werd:

Engine- 2.7 stage 3 rigoli motor sleeved closed deck o-ringed&copper gaskets billett crank mahle 4 inch race pistons&rings trp rods hardened bearings trp race cams-318' full port/polished heads titanium retainers double valve springs nitrided oversize stainless valves sti buckets high performance timing belt jun cam gears 14mm head studs custom trp plenum 3inch throttle body billett fuel rails 4 x 1000cc injectors high flow oil pump 3 x 044 bosch fuel pumps 8 litre surge tank motec coil packs motec cdi motec 5 bar map sensor motec m800 ecu oil cooler 700x300x80mm intercooler fuel pressure reg trust 42mm wastegate innovative t72 (800hp turbo) 100hp NOS oil catch can GFB pulley kit k&n filter trust BOV x-force headers 3&1/2 inch exhaust with 4 inch chrome tip trust oil cap apexi turbo timer usual painted&bling bits. Had the engine specifically built to run at 35psi and so that if i want to in the future can upgrade to a bigger turbo. :wave:


Driveline- 4EAT full automatic gearbox with manual clutchless shift,transmission brake&lever to switch to RWD for burnouts etc.. mechanical front&rear 1.5 lsd R180 rear end with billet shafts,cv's etc.. 3.9ratio.:lol:


Suspension- Fulcrum coilovers whiteline swaybars front&rear anti lift kit strut brace whiteline heavy duty control arms.:shake:


Wheels/tyres/brakes- 20inch eclipse rims nankang225/30/20 tyres MY03 sti brembo brakes 330mm 4pot front 315mm 2pot rear

Stereo- Pioneer indash dvd,cd player rockford fosgate 6 inch splits pioneer 6 inch splits 2x rockford tweeters custom ported sub box&paneling 6 monitors 2 farad capacitor 2 x rockford fosgate power 15inch subs rockford 4x100 amp rockford 1x1000 amp neons strobe lights fluro lights cooling fans autometer volts gauge kenwood 7x10s to go in soon. Have made a big change and am stripping the stereo from the car to make it lighter:wave:

power- 371kw atw on rigolis roller dyno @ 30psi on C16 with 20 inch rims on and through an auto box. getting dyno'd again @ 33psi with 17 inch rims on to try and top the magical 400kw atw mark.:idb:

certainly was dude,thats why i bought it ages ago cause Nat did such a good job in making it look the way it does on the outside with the spoiler kit and paint job,well i think so anyway. Have had few people tell me its a piece of shit and its ugly as hell but each to their own i guess.

Car seems pretty bombed, I dont mind the graphics and paint etc either. I think it'd look alot tougher on some jap rims, like black w/ orange lip 37's or something, but it doesnt look bad as it is. Guessing there's alot of weight to be removed with that stereo. Congrats tho mate, keen to see it out.

Spoke to Rigoli's today and they were still playing with the car on the dyno and had a little bit to go,they had it just over 380kw atw (510hp atw) so hopefully they would have finished it tomorow. Im hoping to top 400kw but if not im more than happy with the result as their 8.6second sti drag car has 461kw atw (618hp atw) on their dyno:-).

Woohoo the final power run on rigoli's dyno my dak dak made 394 kw at all fours (528hp atw) @ 33 pounds on C16. Not quite 400kw but close enough for me. Boost starts at 4000rpm all the way to 7200rpm and keeps pulling to 8000rpm where i asked them to set the rev limiter. In comparison their drag sti that did a 8.344 sec quarter makes 90 hp atw more!!!! Im one happy camper and cant wait to drive that animal when i get it back.

They are going to race it at eastern creek raceway next Wednesday to see how it goes and make sure all is good then send it back. :-) :-) :-)

certainly is mate,had creative autoworks air brush it to see how he went cause i want to get the subi done. It used to be white but got him to paint it black first before he air brushed flames all over it and i painted the underneath with sound deadener. I also painted the nerfs, bumper, grab bar, A-arms and a few other bits in matt black while it was apart.
Took it out the other week and its still covered in mud lol. Hes a wicked drawer,i spun out at some of the work hes done!!

yep got elka's front and rear,and pretty much every aftermarket part you can think of on it from the Lonestar catalogue. The best mod is the +4 swingarm cause it makes it that much more stable to ride. Havnt really touched the motor, just done the cam (stage 2 hotcam) thats it. Soon as you play with the motors on quads they kinda turn into hand grenades and you dont know when theyre gonna blow. Looked at a turbo kit for it but was a bit ifffy. Sounds to me like you have a bike or two? one question- who was that smoking hot chick in your perth street car article a while back- DAMN i must say!!!!

Ok at Eastern Creek last night with Dom Rigoli driving. Full bodied,nothing stripped out of the interior with all the stereo gear still in etc.. it ran a 10.5 @ 136mph. 1.8sec 60 ft. The nitrous (120 hp) is set up to work in 1st up to 5k until the boost takes over,they were launching off the foot break at 3k and changing gears at 8k. They said it spun all the way through 1st and halfway into 2nd with semi slicks on. With a stripped interior and better tyres it should crack a 9.

Thats what power it made on their dyno,they gave it a hard time at the strip but was more to make sure it was running right etc... before they send it back. Remember the stereo gear weighs a ton so im happy it did a mid 10. Nah they didnt weigh it,wish they did though.

IF i was to sell the rex what do you think a decent price would be for it that i'd get? Owes me a fuck load of time,PATIENCE and money, The reason im thinking this way is because the Rigoli's have had it for almost a year and a half and its all finished now,FINALLY!!!!! Gonna sort it out soon to get it sent back soon.

With it being away for so long,being totally over the whole waiting thing and having sooo much fun with my(sorry guys!!)V8 patrol im kinda over it,if thats understandable if anyones been in that position before. Im being turned waymore towards V8's and wanna get another one and also pour some money into the patrol to finally finished it with a big tidy up (and maybe a blower....).
Would be great if anyone has ideas of what it'd be worth????

My estimate is round the 45k mark (bargain for whats been spent and done to it!!!!!).

haha well this is the dilemma that alot of people in this postion eventually come across

this is my opinion, looking at the car and the specs 45k is a bargain.. would cost double to rebuild a car to the same specs, not to mention the effort, massive amounts of hours and patience like you have said, but it will be hard to sell as gc8 dak daks can be had for 16k these days, despite yours being on a totally different level however

i am kinda in the same boat at the moment, car has been off the road for a while and when you find other interests to focus on in the mean time, it becomes quite easy to be "over" your car and spending every cent on it, but i know ill regret selling it if i do (especially if its at a price im not happy with)

you have obviously been through alot with the car and waited 1 and a half years for the car to be finished, get the car sent back and enjoy..im sure it will put a massive smile on your face everytime you drive it.. then after a while if you still feel like your over it and want to get into your 8's, post it up for a price your happy with and dont budge on it as there is no rush.. the right person will come along..just a matter of when

Well after all this time,just over a year and a half!!! and alot of patience,money and negative thinking it finally went on the truck yesterday to come home. Just hope the guys dont drive it when it gets to perth at the transport company,i know i'd wanna take it for a spin if i worked there. It takes a procedure to start it (not just turning the key) so hopefully they dont work it out lol. Dom waited while it got loaded onto the truck in Sydney so thats all good. Hope it was all worth it!! Time will tell when i get it home on the 28th. Hell excited and cantwait!!!! thanks for the positive comments too everyone:-)

Picked the wrx up yesterday thanx to Gerrin at anytime towing I(best towie ever!!), little bit dissapointed with the condition it was in which didnt happen in the transit of the car- cracked side skirt, bit of gutter rash on the two passenger rims, both front gaurds bent out from the tyres hitting them which caused the paint to crack!!! grrrr!!!!!, bumper hanging about an inch off the drivers side, paint taken off the interior in certain spots, greasy handmarks everywhere, suede filthy and looked like it was left out in the weather for weeks on end!!!!

Spent 3 hrs today cleaning and polishing it,removing all the stickers/graphics and doing a serious clean on the interior sunday and a shit load of touch ups. Took me 6 hrs yeasterday to strip the whole interior,those who have seen the stereo in it would understand lol. Also put a nice big radiator in it. Think its a mechanic thing to not worry too much about looking after the condition of the non mechanical items but i could be wrong??????:confused:

Apart from that it sounds/looks good and goes bloody hard,the engine bay looks like an italian spaghetti meal but i will tidy it all up. Have got a shit load of tidying up to do before i think about motorvation/salon.

Apart from all those bad points which i kind of expected (but not so many) im happy with it:)

faaaaaaark,just drove the subi before and didnt realise it was in rwd, was sitting on just over 80km/h gave it some shit and the tyres lit up with a power slide,wasnt ready for it but caught it nicely lol

this dyno run made just over 392kw (525hp) at all fours,the best was 394.5kw (528hp) at all fours. This is running on c16 @ 33/34lbs or 2.3 bar boost without nos,nos is only for launching. Rememba the power loss through the auto.

Just ordered a heap of roll cage padding, heat wrap, boot latches and a drum of c16 for the next time im home ahhh. Was checking out the carbon fibre boot and bonnets from seibon- was drooling quite a bit and they'd be definately much lighter than whats on there now!! Expensive,but as expected!.

Havnt really had any real bites yet on anyone interested in the car, does anyone have a set of rims (PCD 5 x 100) with drag radials that will clear brembos that they might wanna lend someone......;-) Next time im back from work i wanna give it a go on the strip.
Went through 5 different types of spark plugs on the car trying to find the best and finally found the right ones last week!!!! NGK BKR8E-11 copper. Ive tried 6's, 7's, 10's but the coldest copper ones i could find (which i ordered off ebay) work amazing.
Could feel the power loss with some of the other ones i tried aswell as really hard to start the car. These ones pretty much fire it up straight away, Just a bugger that they are hard to get, found a shop over east that can get them so i ordered 2 sets for back up :-)
