I sent him an email asking if he wanted to look at the car, he replied

Thanks for the mail,i am buying the car for dad and i am at sea at the moment as i am a marine engineer and i really want the car to be a surprise for dad so i wont let him know anything abt the car until it gets delivered to him , i am sure he will be more than happy with the car.I insisted on paypal because i dont have access to my bank account online as i dont have internet banking, but i can pay from my paypal account, as i have my bank a/c attached to it, i will need you to give me your paypal email address so i can make the payments asap for the car and pls if you dont have paypal account yet, it is very easy to set up, go to www.paypal.com.au and get it set up , after you have set it up i will only need the e-mail address you use for registration with paypal so as to put the money through.I have a pick up agent that will come and pick the car up after i have made the payments.

I rarely use Paypal, but can he put the money into my account then withdraw it?

The guys name is Nathan Wilcox

Its a scam.

You will bounce emails back and foward for a bit. He will tell a story about getting a relative or some shit to pick it up. Then he will tell you that he has paid the amount to paypal.

You will get a letter from paypal saying he has paid in too much and you will need to pay back the difference, then they will credit you the whole lot (inc his over payment).

You ring the real paypal before doing so to check and they know nothing of it.

You then send abusive email to nathywilly and be on your way...

Happend to a mate.

Paypal... dodgy.

It'll be a stolen account probably, the payment will be made, and then Paypal will rip the $3200 back off you to refund it to the person whose account was stolen.

Yeah sounded too good to be true
Who offers 200 bucks more for a car without even looking at it
I wonder how I can scam him back
any ideas?

Doesn't make sense mate. He has set up a pay-pal acopingpingpingping, but doesn't have internet banking? Not only that, the paypal is linked directly to his account. Yeah fuck off. Don't risk it, reply and tell him how easy it is to set up internet banking.

On another note - My sister put a T.V in the quokka for $300, then some dude called and said he'd take it for $340. Anyhow he came, picked it up and payed $340. Absolute tripper haha. It does happen I guess.

fuck pay pal there's another thread on here about pay pal ,
its a scam , plain & simple .

also if this dickhead says he has his bank acc linked to pay pal but doesnt have internet banking .... hmmm i dont even think that would be possible ?

ask him how he expects to sign the transfer papers & show a west australian drivers licence which is required on the transfer papers .

better yet , go a head with the deal & when the dodgy pingpingpingpings turn up beat the piss out of them

Give them a fake Paypal details and get them to meet you somewhere public and flog the shit outta them. Pretty sure you'll get alot of us willing to come lend a hand with the dodgey pricks too. Say your mum's sick so you'll meet them at the local woolie's or soemthing.

Tell him you would like to deliver the car for him as you feel he's a nice guy doing such a thing for his dad. Ask for a simple deposit to your western union account that is verified by the australian embassy before the paypal transaction, find out address, pay towie to pick up a wreck from somewhere and proceed to drop off present at location.

google Scam the scammers ... there's a site, the guy might do it for fun.

Or ---- go get a no fees bank account, sign up for a new paypal account, see if any money goes into your paypal, transfer the funds to bank, withdraw cash... close all accounts and tell him he can pickup the car.

RICEY
17-07-2009, 01:58 PM
Would work if they actually put money in your account but they dont, they just say they have, then someone posing as ebay says they paid in too much and you need to pay back the excess. Thats how they scam the money out of you.
