OK, i have a mate who organises all the national drift compititions in the eastern states and since calder park is closing they are looking very seriously at extending this compitition to bring WA into it.
I was chatting to him this morning and he has a meeting later today. he was wanting to know weather late in the year (nov/dec) or early (jan/feb) would be prefered for the WA round to be held.
They are trying to extend the drift australia so it has seven round including a TAZ and WA round. It will obviously by held at Barbagello if they get approvel for everything.
This is just a fealer guys but let me know your thoughts and hopefully this will get of the ground for all you driftheads.
Cheers Jesse.

Dont really care either way for drift in Aus, its a struggling sport that was raped by the likes of "Racing Jason" before its legs were strong enough to walk on its own.

Dont hold it in Feb - its like 40 degrees - cars hate it, people hate it.

Bingo - all 3 people who rock up the week before/after will enjoy it.

Late November ftw. Still not too hot, a good month afer powercruise.

October 3 - Drift Battle Round 1
October 23 - Drift Practice
November 7 - Drift Battle Round 2
December 5 - Drift Battle Round 3
December 11 - Drift Practice

are supposed date for current wa drift sessions... usually a big break between Round 3 then round 4 i think is very end of Jan if not feb.

so apart from the weather in there would be the best times for local guys and interest i would say

Last season there was a large break between the first saturday in December (rd3) and the first saturday in march (rd4) so im guessing it will be the same for next year.

So somewhere inbetween those dates would be good, cause ill get bored n stuff :p

It's been here before. If they were serious they can easily contact the people that run the current WA series.

They will contact them, but first the reps of DA need to all agree that they want to take it to WA. My mate is proposing this today at a meeting, so if it gets full surport from the board (most likely it will) then they will contact relevant WA authorities. He just asked me to put fealers out to see what the response to a national drift series in WA would be like and what time of year is most sutable.

Which national drift competitions does he/she organise?
Last time i spoke to the new owners of DA they seemed to have it all sussed (its not new for DA to come to WA?) Why not Feb like they normally do? when the start of the season starts, so that people arent trecking back and forth. If you get the west out the way quickly, the majority of the competitors just have to travel north and south, which isnt as $$$ as east to west.

Drift is hardly a struggling sport buddy, Its well alive over east.. and as much as i hate to admit it, racing jason is good at what he does.

oh TJ, you have much to learn :)
Drift Australia isnt everything. there are other drift events that are keeping it alive. I still get away to random state events every few months, and can honestly say its well and truely alive.

DA is up and running as per usual next year.

Not really, im keen to see the result, as i would think others are.

I dont really follow drift but really enjoyed the da round that was held here 2 years ago that borneo won?

That was a good day out, and id certainly go back again. So to see it come back would be good

Your probs right but im not a member of that forum and i was just putting a fealer out for interest for my mate. Im sure they will do there own research on the matter to.

Yeah little off topic but, DA isnt anything to judge drift by, drift has always been about the grassroots or i suppose club level competition and that's not just here its in Japan too. D1GP is probably what gave drift its fame and its how most of us see drift in Japan but what its really about is the countless events held for amateurs.

Also, judging by the numbers of newbies that have been coming to train at Barbagallo over the last few months, its far from dead here in WA - i reckon the upcoming season might be pretty good....but i guess we'll just have to wait and see.

If your mate is talking to the WASCC then they are well aware of a time suitable for a WA event i reckon.

^ brenden is correct, but so is jacek.

its a case of a HEAP of newbies at training, but they dont feel as if they are good enough for comps yet.

this winter break, will allow those newbies to get enough confidence up and their skill, to start entering comps. so there should be decent numbers at the start of the season
