Doubt that very much.
It's been no secret he was going to pursue a boxing career, and from most accounts, he's a pretty fvcking good boxer.

yeah but keep in mind he'll be fighting professional boxers too, but i haven't seen any of his fights, but he's got the height and reach lol...

Haha, yeah but what Dockers say and do are two different things, especially when it comes to recruitment. They've proven to be shocking in the past. In saying that, I doubt they'd take him on.
If'd say there's a very good chance he'll join up with Green. Though he's not a professional boxer, he has done plenty of training. Even throughout his AFL career he has always remained in the boxing ring. Who knows for sure how that will translate into a professional career, but I'd say he'll do quite well. Certainly got all the qualities in a boxer (including lack of brain capacity).

I heard exactly the same thing this morning, and that the Bullies might get him if he wants to play

LOL clown ...
i lost count how many times he has been asked to quit footy and go to boxing ... potential to be Australias greatest Heavy weight.
if he had any brains he would have hung the boots up years ago and strapped on a set of gloves. he would earn millions as opposed to thousands
give it 12 months after he wins a belt and all you clowns will be up his hole again OHHH WE LOVE YOU BARRY !!
i predict a very bright boxing future.

I cant see why theres so much hostility toward barry, he has been a great talented player over the years and hes just a bloke that doesnt take any shit and if you over step the mark he'll let you know right on the chin. I mean come on you cant expect to walk up to him and constantly give hell all game and get away with it.

lol you can't judge how good a boxer he will be for knocking out staker who wasn't even expecting it though... he won a title in his teens, so unless he's kept the training up you can't have massive expectations compared to the pro's... but i'm keen to see how he goes, good for him if he makes it in boxing we need some more aussie boxers to take some titles..

:P that'd be a good fight to watch... i'd imagine he'd fight like green and just go for the haymakers... he's too massive to be as quick as mundine! but he's got massive reach! would be good to see!

wouldn't mind seeing barry goto the bulldogs and lead them to a premiership, they seriously lack a tall forward. his contract ends straight away, he probly needs some time away from the game but.
i remember watching some footage of him kick boxing and showing off his first car on the sunday footy show, was entertaining.

+1 this dude was hailed to be the next best thing in boxing before he decided to choose the love of football first.
being an afl player he will have alot more things going for him over other boxers. IF he does decide to choose the boxing path im sure he will do very well.
chrged you obviously thought he was just another random trying to make it big in a new boxing career to say such a stupid thing..

LOL... tard... if he jumps straight in the ring with roy jones jr he will get flattened imo... just because he won a title as a teen and got a few offers doesn't mean shit... jump off the bandwagon
plus i never said he wouldn't be a good fighter - i can see him going far... and i'm all for him winning titles...

bandwagon?? where??
You just prove how stupid you are once again with that above comment. Comparing him with one of the all time greats in boxing, nice one dickhead LOL.
He has everything going for him to make it in the boxing career IF he decides to go that way.
I know i wouldnt put my money on him to get owned as you say...

LOL at calls of him getting owned. He boxes all the time. He just isn't allowed to it properly because of his contracts witht he swans. Will do very well when he steps in the ring. Heard stories of blokes not being able to get a single hit in.

Good luck to him, bloke was a great athlete who has some issues and cant stop punching peoples heads, which to me seems like the perfect trait to be a decent boxer.

Cvnts 32... sure he can box... but Career? pffft.
DenZel
08-07-2009, 06:23 PM
It’s not uncommon for boxers to box till there 40. He would still have at least 3 good years in him easy.
Also he will be in the heavyweight class where speed isn’t AS much of a factor.
Remember John Hopoate started at the age of about 32 and has made a half decent career out of it...and he is no barry hall.

Randy Couture anyone? Didnt hit the peak of his career as a mma fighter till he was in his early 40's.

hed have a better chance with jones jnr than golden boy greeny just quietly....
those that doubt his boxing ability & sling shit on the guy purely because of his antics on the field, remove the sand from your vaginas & get over it...

I'll promptly separate myself from those others...
Longevity in the Boxing game however does not dictate success or 'brightness'...
Being able to train hard enough, long enough and consistently enough to remain competitive on not be humiliated on the other hand...
If he decides to step into the ring he will be fed a few sacrificial lambs to get the Bazza bandwagon going by fighting on some undercards and getting a heap of media attention and belting the fuck out of some journeymen local fighters.
If he gets to the next level then things will be a little more interesting cos there is a Barry Hall ( black version ) standing on every street corner in the US.
Either way, I'll be watching with interest.

Just saw Barry on the footy show. He doesn't come accross too stupid, so I'd say he isn't gonna make a decision thats going to result in him having the shit beaten out of him.

i hope he goes into boxing, would be a good way to spend 6+ years earning good cash he could probably retire on
also think he'll do very well in the ring, hapo is a thug that hits hard, we all saw a couple weeks ago what happens when he meets a real boxer, an old one at that, hall is a lot quicker and leaner with the power and reach to match
he'll make a great heavyweight and i reckon he'd have a massive aussie support base
hope he goes and wins some titles

either way he has a lot on his plate and wont make a commitment until his head is in the right place.

barry doesnt come across as a dopey stupid pingpingpingping, he sounds reasonably smart actually. he just has problems controlling his temper clearly on the field
i for one would love to see him knock the piss out of mundine, but i dont think that will happen because 1, mundine wont fight him because hes too shit scared, and 2, if barry doesnt knock the pingpingpingping out and all 12 rounds are fought out, mundine will win on points even if barry is the clear winner *cough* geale should still be champion *cough*
aus boxing is bullshit
and size doesnt mean everything - have a look at sonny bill williams

Haha yeh some how i dont see mundine fighting at heavyweight anytime soon.
Im not sure what hall weighs in at, or what his fight weight would be, but possible match up with sonny bill? two guys that both have natural talent, have obviously done a decent amount of boxing/training, and are also athletic as hell! Its a fight i wouldnt mind seeing.
I havent seen much footage of hall, but the lack of australian heavyweight talent would work in his favour. People talk about how he was a kicking boxing champ of sorts when he was younger, i personally think this means little, alot of kicking boxing champs struggle when its hands only.
Aslong as hall doesnt do something stupid like go to america anytime soon then i think he could definatley do well!

Danny Green would be rubbing his hands together trying get this matchup or even just Hall to fight on the undercard if he fights Jones Jnr here in Aust. It would be a media frenzy.

sonny bill its athletic as hell, massive, ripped.. but cant box
did you see his fight before mundine vs geale?
edit: williams comes across as a very modest fella.. especially to the media.. so i dont know if it was nerves because it was his first fight.. but it was terrible.. not to mention the guy he was fighting
