Wow looks like you got some serious gear in that thing...
how much power is it making? estimated 1/4 mile times?

datsqik
28-06-2009, 08:54 AM
I'll post some specs up later, makes around 1200hp without the gas and still uses a bw turbo. Hasnt run any passes yet so we will just take it a step at a time and see where we are at and go from there. We have plans to take the engine package further but we'll just have to see how things go.

looks unreal mate.

But why the auto.
Basically the car had ppg box in it with around 600rwhp that proved very unreliable as far as getting gears all the time which isnt much good for drag racing. If you cant get all gears 10 out of 10 passes its not worth persisting with. The next step was to go for a hollinger or a liberty or something along that line but the budget didnt really allow for that so we decided to try and develop a suitable auto. We may have to replace some of the shafts with vasco shafts but basically the size of the shafts and clutches indicate that it has the potential to put up with a fair wack of power.

We will probably just do a season in super sedan sorting it out while dave gets a handle on driving it. Ive started building another motor with a lot more engine developement and a bigger turbo but how far we take this will ultimately depend on support from sponsors. We would love to be able to run super stock and run under the current index.

Will it be ready for the first round next season?

I definately hope so, just need to do wheel alignments etc and play with getting it on the transbrake quickly. We were considering taking it to qld for the jamboree but didnt want to go all that way with a car that hasnt been down the track. But next year is def on the cards.

Originally we werent planning to go so far with the car but if we did it again we probably would have gone for a dry sump setup. The engine has a large sump with good baffles but if it does decide to suck air off the start line the accusump holds over 3L and pumps if the pressure drops below 35psi. You can also use the accusump to pump the oil pressure up to 90psi before you hit the start button. We have a high volume vaccum pump on the engine which has the same effect as a multi stage external pump by creating a vaccum inside the motor reducing blow by effects by keeping the rings sucked against the walls of the cylinder.

I like to tune methanol using a gasoline scale because thats where my heads at. Dont want to be running conversions thru my head whilst im tuning. As you know methanol has a large window in which it works safely and during initial tuning I like to start on the rich side and with this setup it likes it rich. Some setups you can end up around 10 safely because thats where a particilar engine likes it and makes the most power. This engines makes its power on the rich side. The egt's seemed to be happy around there aswell.

Gents,
had a semi successful day yesterday. I did a 1.3 60' and 116 mile an hour at half track . Backed off here as i wanted to feel what the shoot felt like - not a drama, pulled the ass around a little. Rolled through to do 9.8.
Wanted to go do a few harder full track passes but the Radiator decided to spring a leak. Packed her and went home .
Felt good, left straight.

She'l be down at Mandurah at the car show this Saturday 5 Dec if any one wants to have a gander.

Yeh your right , so many hours at night, weekends just like we all do . One must be a little odd or have a few screws loose to persist with this type project, gotta take ya time.

It would be very hard to get right with out the input from guys like Smiley as there knowledge is second to none. The manual aspect of prepping and presenting the car is not that hard but it dose take time to do properly and
that i can do, but the tolerances and the application of correct mechanical ingenuity and correct combinations is in the "Smiley " league. He can tune too!!!
