All right im a long-time lurker, practically first time poster…but my car is finally starting to take shape so thought I would introduce it (and myself) to the antilag community. I have been in the ‘scene’ for a while now but have stuck mainly to silvia and drift orientated forums/cruises. Right well, I originally got the bug for modified 4 bangers thanks to my parents, who forbade me from getting an 8 or even 6 cylinder first car. I use to be a big Ford fan (major emphasis on the past tense in that statement), so I was keen on an xr8 or xr6, but my parents insistence on lower engine capacity lead me right to the silvia’s lair, and I’ve never looked back. My first import when I was 19, it was a very clean, kitted 180sx. It was a beautiful car, but too beautiful, I was terrified of using its potential or parking it in open places for fear that something might happen to its immaculate pearlescent/glitter paint job. It had another downside as well….it had a CA, knowing relatively little at the time about silvias I was not aware of the negative stigma surrounding the CA but I quickly became introduced to its ‘quirks’ and after owning the car for 8 months I decided to give it the flick.
The new beginning. Well following the sale of the 180sx I went through a period of hating cars so I bought a lancer (that makes sense doesn’t it?). However, the need for boost and Rwd power soon crept back and a year later a mate and I went splits on purchasing an unregistered s13 which we intended on having as a drift project. Wow….did that turn out to be a terrible idea! I thought after my issues with the 180sx I would be well tuned to the sight of a lemon but apparently not. The s13 had a lot of issues and it took over a year of the car being off the road with countless hours spent on it by my mate, myself and workshops before she ran right. Whilst the car was off the road we had also managed to come to the conclusion that drift in WA was far far far too expensive for the budget of two uni students, so we decided licensing the car to cruise in etc, was more practical. Well the car hadn’t been licensed since 2002, so there were a few headaches but we finally got there in march of this year with some fresh plates chucked on her :) My mate was then well and truly over the process by then so I bought the car off him at a very generous price and have continued to modify it…the car is now my daily and has treated me very well. I've been to a few AHG events and went to the collie drift day earlier this year, and plan on doing as many AHG/collie days as possible and MAY do a practice night at barbs.
I got the car back from the paint shop today…and also my new rims arrived. Will hopefully have the car put together for Saturday where ill try and get some photos of me at an AHG day.
Will update thread with progress though not much will be happening for a while as i have a fractured wrist and cant work :( Please let me know what you think!

Hah gotta love Perth, every import has a history, yup its Dale's old s13, has an interesting past but in any case im trying to undo/change most of what he did to the car so that it is mine.

I actually really like the Watanabes on it right now, but each to their own. Good stuff going to Collie too, always wanted to do it but too scared of binning my Chaser.
How did you find it? Difficult? or relativly easy, heard it's a tight track so never carrying too much speed.

Paint looks schmick man. I told you to send me a pic asap, but no love. What gives? You better chuck some pics up this afternoon with tyres and kit on.
Looks good, white will suit the kit and tyres really well.

Ha yeh im surprised by how many ppl actually like the watanabes, i personally hate them, not really into the 'old school' silvia look, but ill sell them once my new rims are on so hopefully theyll go to someone a bit more appreciative of them :) Oh and collie was a great experience but car was playing up all day with cooler pipes popping off so didnt enjoy myself as much as i could, thus why i am keen to head back!

Looking mint Hunter! I didn't realise drift teks came in a polished lip and coloured centers option, they look the goods :D
Only thing is, your front rims are going to hit the coilovers. When I had my meisters on my 180, the fronts were 18x9 +18 and they hit, so I put on a 5mm slip spacer and was all good. So 20mm spacers will be your best freind, just don't do a Jared and use 20mm spacers as slip ons. Wouldn't want to see this lose a wheel as well.

Haha well your warnings came a lil late, tried to drive up the ramp at my local bottle shop yesterday and failed :( front bumper got half ripped off, but didnt get damaged really just a couple of small scrapes, and it popped by side indicator out and snapped it. Nothing too major.
Yes and when i get some coin ill be keen to invest in some 'crystal' style lighting, should tie in well with the white, also will get some dark tint. But in the immediate future car will be getting its first wash since paint, and ill paint my grill black.

Seems to me like he was treating it well. Made sure he removed the kit before hitting the track, someone else hit him so that's no fault of his, these things happen.
As for the fire that could have happened for any number of reasons which don't directly correlate to treating the car like crap.

so he went the cheaper option
Being an S13 owner, I didn't doubt it :D
Surely the cheapest option would have been to buy a cheap bunky s13 and mod it for drift.

yep!, even if it was a NA version he still had to buy himself another motor anyway which could of gone into a 2 thousand buk s13 NA matt black pig and tracked that and still had a nice 13 to take out on the weekends..

okay so with my car currently featuring in perth street car magazine (quite sometime after the photo shoot lol) I thought I'd give a brief update on the cars status... A lot didnt happen with it for a while as I lost interest and considered selling but over time I've chipped away at the car with a lot of help from some good mates.
Car now has new sr20 redtop, turbo, cooler setup, cage, suspension arms, widebody and wheels to name a few things. There is still a lot to be done, most likely by a workshop as i'm sick of working on it and want it finished for next years drift season.
