We just installed a big bloody expensive computer/softwars setup in the missus's hair salon, as we are leaving next month the girls will be on their own and no doubt spend their quiet time sitting on the net on Facebook and youtube and MSN, So that the lazy bitches aren't sitting on their asses on our dollar we need a decent program to block these sites and whatever else we dont want them looking at during work hours.
Anyone in the know have any ideas whats a good one, the cheaper the better, which means we want it basically free :)

Brett - what sort of setup have you got for net access? Is there a router there? If so, what brand/model - it may be able to do site filtering .etc
Shoot me some details and I can have a look at some options for you and help you out :)

It really depends on the setup of the systems there, but generally speaking, most routers/modems can do filtering/blocking of specific websites and ports (e.g. MSN ports etc) so they don't work also.

Yep, Program runs some update every night, plus we want to be able to use it for Emailing clients for promotional stuff.
Can also be used for conference video calling as well considering we are going to be 5000k's away from the salon soon.

we just jumped on the chicks pc's and blocked the sites within explorers security settings ...
then waited ..... then got told that 'the internet is broken' ..... simple jack now has sisters
^^^ Yup easiest way.
Set the sites you dont want them to see as unsafe in IE. The change their access rights so they dont have access to change IE settings, this way if someone with half a clue comes in they can't change it.
5 min job
until they download another browser haha

rename the interenet explorer executable, and delete all shortcuts to it.
that way they can use outlook and all that, but when someone emails them a link, or they try to open up iexplorer it wont work. easy as :)

best to block in router via keywords, and also block proxy sites.
lock router with password.

If they don't need to browse the interwebs, setup static IP, remove the gateway & make the router some strange IP. Its not like they'll try very hard to find out what it is.
