If you don't mind paying $44 US for it you can stream it online live.

All the details are on ufc.com

Otherwise you can stream it online for free through a few dodgy and non-secure methods (justin.tv) or download the event about 12 hours after it's been finished. (torrents/usenet)

Pubs wouldn't screen it live, the events start at like 10am generally, except for ufc99 that started at 3am as it was in Germany.

99 was good. 100 is an awesome card on paper, but only time will tell if it lives up to the hype.

I'm going back and watching all the old ones now. Some of the hits in the early ones and the underdeveloped skills are incredible. Makes you realise how far the sport has come.

+1. He is at the top purely because of his size and his name. Shoul have had half a dozen fights at least before getting where he is.

Absolute monster of a man and will be a force to be reckoned with once he gets his skills up. Any man with so much muscle he has to cut weight to make 265 pounds is a monster.

Just finished watching it after downloading it, thank fuck I didnt bother paying for it, it has to be the most boring sport next to curling, fucking grown men rolling aroud on the floor tapping each other for 4 minutes at a time, sure I wouldnt like to take one on, but there is nothing manly about rolling around the floor with another man.
At least with boxing and other hand to hand combat sports its 2 men punching/kicking each other to a pulp.

99 wasn't very good, especially for someone just starting to watch it.

Try watching an ultimate fighter series, most of them are entertaining.

I don't think there is much chance of turning people to like it. Some like it, some don't. Same as our car hobby. Just accept it.

I liked 99. Thought it was quite entertaining for the most. I find the strategy very interesting though, so different appeal for me.

If all you are chasing is fists flying in fury, stick to boxing.

I prefer strategy based matches as well, but it's always entertaining to see two meatbags like wandi or rampage swinging fists like there's no tomorrow.

I only really got into ufc after watching an ultimate fighter series to be honest, the matches are so much better when you 'know' who the fighter is.

Big call Brett. There have been some brutal knockouts in UFC. Some fighters get messed up pretty bad, probably more so than in boxing because in UFC you use elbows and knees.

Ignorance much?? MMA is about us ungay as a sport gets, ass taps in footy and prancing about a soccer field falling over is far more homosexual then trying to knock someone out or submit them.

Like any sport it has its boring moments, but i suppose its what you like. I myself find boxing boring at times when you have guys constantly sizing each other up, throwing jabs, moving about, setting themselves up but thats just part of the science and technique behind the sport.

To each their own I guess.

One fight saw them walking around for at least a mintue of the 3 rounds, then the rest of the time it was spent rolling around hugging each other and shit.

So you think BJJ is homo? Not MMA... There's an art to it, probably takes a bit of understanding to see it's not all :cuddle: so in that respect maybe its ignorance, I dunno.

Either way I find it entertaining, but the grappling etc isn't as interesting to me as the kickboxing side of it..

Personally I think the Spencer fight was one of the best on the card. True there wasn't much Biff going on but two quality fighters were basically at a stalemate the whole fight because they both stuck to their game plan. Had some decent submission attempts and a heap of reversals.

Like others have said once you have followed it for a while you get to know the skills of each fighter and how they are improving up the ranks or vice versa.

Anyone watch the last WEC featherweight belt fight Brown vs Faber? Those little fuckers can take some hits.

Carwin takes on Cain Velasquez (6-0) in October at UFC 104 in Los Angeles. The winner gets a shot at Lesnar for the title, White has announced.

If it’s Carwin (no small feat against the excellent Velasquez) then this wouldn’t just be an intriguing fight, but suddenly a personal one. Carwin, like Lesnar, is a former collegiate wrestling champion. They’re about the same size; although Carwin’s massive 5-XL gloves are actually two sizes larger than Lesnar’s. It’s one reason none of Carwin’s opponents have lasted past the middle of the first round.

That should be a challenge for Lesnar.

Mir places a knee straigh on his chin... BANG lesnar see's him leave the ground on the left foot and takes him down again... like fuck... you JUST let him up and he made you piss... so you take him down again. But the side control... fukn clinical. option a) hopeless attempt to twist under lesnars sprawl... option b)... facial restructure.

Silva just looks like he owns the Matrix in those gifs. Amazing to watch. The one that put him down looked like it was more of a poke than a punch. Brilliant work.

Couture FTW @ 102. Jardine V Thiago Silva has good potential too.

Belfort returning at 103!?!?! Anyone seen any of his recent work? Has he lost much in his years since he left UFC (I really only follow UFC, don't keep track of all the others).

In 101, they said Tito is returning as well!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tito_Ortiz#Return_to_the_UFC

Return to the UFC
On July 17, 2009, both Ortiz and Dana White stated that the pair had made amends.[16] One week later, White announced that he re-signed Tito.[17] Ortiz stated he is returning for a six fight deal he and White have worked out. White officially announced Ortiz's return in a conference call on July 31, 2009. White mentioned that "everyone wants to see Tito fight" and "Tito will retire in the UFC." Mark Coleman has been named Ortiz's opponent for his return to the octagon.[18]

Also, as a note of interest, Kimbo Slice is to be one of the contestants on the next Ultimate Fighter season. Will be interesting to see him locked up in the house.

Been watching lots of the old and new UFC of late after not watching it for ages.

So action packed but fuck me i hate it when poofs that like the hug shit win even though they are bloodied up simply cause they had control.

Skipped just about every fight where there was the boring hug stuff going down, watching paint dry is more enjoyable. Would be good if they actually tried to go for a submission or some ground and pound!

Kilma
28-08-2009, 12:27 PM
You need to appreciate it as a whole. Don't like the strategy and scramble of the submission game? Watch kickboxing or something that doesn't deal with it.

Belfort looks in good shape (hard to look shit when you win so easily), unlike Cro Cop he's got some big fights left in him. Be awesome if he gets to go up against Silva for the title. Its almost depressing watching the older school champs like Cro Cop and Couture get beaten.

LNYMRKO
27-10-2009, 09:20 AM
It was definitely close, but I think Shogun landed a lot more blows and kicks, and controlled the fight better than Machida. I think Shogun won rounds 1 and 2, Machida probably the 3rd, but 4th and 5th would be close.. though I still think Shogun had the upper hand to be honest.

Might be sooner than later hopefully! :)

Taken from UFC.com headlines..

No matter, as resolution appears to be just around the corner. UFC President Dana White announced with conviction during the post-fight presser that there would be an immediate rematch. He seemed so committed to the idea that I started to wonder if he would order the pair to don the gloves and face off for a “sudden victory” round right there in the press room. Remember, even though White is the unquestioned MMA czar, he is also its biggest fan, which means he will want bring finality to the controversy just like everyone else.

White said at the UFC 104 post-fight press conference that a rematch is definitely next on each fighter’s plate, and while it’s too early to speculate on when Machida-Rua II could take place, it’s not too soon to start talking about what may happen in a return bout.

Brock Lesnar's out of 106.

Update: Lesnar Out of UFC 106
Options: ShareThis| Printer Friendly
Monday, October 26, 2009
by Sherdog.com Staff

UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has withdrawn from his upcoming title defense against Shane Carwin due to illness, UFC President Dana White told Yahoo Sports on Monday.

“He said he’s never been this sick in his life,” White said of Lesnar. “He said it’s been going on for a long time and he just hasn’t been able to shake it.”

Lesnar was scheduled to face Carwin Nov. 21 in Las Vegas at UFC 106. White told Yahoo, however, that Lesnar has been sick for more than three and a half weeks and has been unable to train. White does not think Lesnar has the H1N1 virus, according to Yahoo’s report.

Sherdog.com has not been able to reach Carwin for comment, but he posted on his Twitter account that he was "very disappointed."

"It's (disappointing) hearing about your career and life through the media," Carwin wrote in a second message. "Nothing from the (bosses) yet."

In a third message, Carwin indicated that he had spoken with his manager, Jason Genet, and suggested that the matchup has been postponed until Jan. 2. UFC 108 is scheduled for that date at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

UFC.com reported Monday that a light heavyweight matchup between Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin will now headline UFC 106.

Darklove

I'm only 2 rounds in and i can't see how Shogun could win, sure hes landing some kicks but not all of them and thats all hes landing. Machida has been landing knees, punches & kicks and is tagging Shogun alot more. One more round to go though!

DanWA

Yeah his kicking is good but he runs around scared and his landing ratio is low.

Good win for Machida, not great though.

Lonewolf

i disagree, shogun landed a lot more hard hits, particularly to the legs and body of machida.
machida's speed and motion dropped off considerably due to the punishment he recieved, shogun looked very fresh.

Like I said, I can see why it was awarded to machida, but I would have gone the other way, just.

Shogun didn't beat him, he fought alot different to how he usually does, i reckon if he come out brawling like he did against Rampage he'd have won.

I can see how alot of peopled were swayed to Shogun's side, the commentating was pretty pathetic.

Classic example Shogun gets tagged so hard he just about gets floored and they still go "woah look at that leg kick" haha

I caught something on One HD the other night that Brock Lesnar is back and fighting soon?
Not really a big fan of MMA because I cant stand them standing around doing fuck all for extended periods, then hugging it out after, do like the pummeling though :)

LNYMRKO
23-11-2009, 02:10 PM
Interesting! Last I heard he had an 'undisclosed' health problem and wouldn't be fighting for an extended period of time, maybe not at all again.. sounded serious.. guess we'll find out soon enough.. be good to see him back.. and lose ;)

Yeh MMA isn't everyones cup of tea as sometimes they're extra cautious because they have to worry about being put at a disadvantage due to an opponents strength at a different style of fighting, which can sometimes lead to a boring round/fight but I guess that's the nature of MMA.

Tones
23-11-2009, 02:26 PM
WOW... just watched the Fedor fight. What the hell was the guy thinking backing off him and going back to stand up?

on lesnar
On October 26, 2009, it was announced that Lesnar had pulled out of the UFC 106 card in which he was set to face Shane Carwin for the UFC Heavyweight Championship due to an illness. UFC President Dana White said that Brock had been ill for three weeks and claimed he had never been this sick in his life and that it would take him a while to recover, his fight with Carwin was rescheduled for UFC 108 in early 2010. On November 4, it was confirmed that Lesnar was suffering from mononucleosis and that his bout with Carwin would have to wait a bit longer, thus the fight for UFC 108 was cancelled. On November 14 at the UFC 105 post-fight conference, Dana stated, "He's not well and he's not going to be getting well anytime soon." and that an interim title match might need to be set up. In addition to mononucleosis, it was revealed that Lesnar was suffering from a serious intestinal disorder called Diverticulitis that would require a surgical procedure. After further diagnosis, on November 16 Lesnar underwent surgery to close a perforation in his intestine that had been leaking fecal matter into his abdomen, causing pain, abcesses, and overtaxing his immune system to the point that he contracted mononucleosis. From the level of damage to Lesnar's system, the surgeon guessed that the intestinal condition had been ongoing for around a year.

Just when I was starting to get into it I watched a fight with Tito ortiz and some karate dude from Brazil, got me screaming at TV, The brazilian dude kept backing up the whole 3 rounds and lashing out every now and then.
I understand you have to be on the defensive, but to run away the whole fight seems a bit of a cop out, your there to fight, if your scared of getting hurt maybe you shouldnt be fighting.
No idea how old the fight was, OneHD seems to be a bit behind.

LNYMRKO
23-11-2009, 03:15 PM
Yeah I know what you're saying, I think it's more scared of losing than scared of getting hurt. I agree though, sometimes its annoying and you just wanna see them throw down, which is obviously a lot more exciting.

In saying that thought, the fight you're describing sounds like Loyoto Machida, who because of his elusiveness and carefulness, stands undefeated with a perfect record of 16-0 ;)

I'm a big Machida fan, but yeh not all of his fights are exciting and a lot of them go the full length of the fight and go to judges decision.. it's a lot more exciting to see a knockout or submission!

Brett_J
23-11-2009, 03:23 PM
Yeah thats the guy, I saw he was being cautious, but he does have some good grappling skills and when he is close enough to strike he is bang on target, he has the skills to be a close up fighter, Tito had him in a good hold and he slipped straight out,so I think he could stil win if he wasn't so elusive, was a shame to see 3 rounds of it, Tito was getting very pissed which lost him the fight in the end I believe.

LNYMRKO
23-11-2009, 03:27 PM
Yup, he is incredibly accurate, he's just also cautious... his wiki summed it up perfectly..

Often described as "elusive," Machida relies on cautious and precise counter-striking that frustrates his opponents into making mistakes.[34][35][36] Machida has earned considerable respect from MMA fans, fighters, and commentators for his effectiveness and winning ways.[37][38][39] At the same time, his cerebral and conservative style is sometimes deemed boring and unsatisfying to watch.

Just watched a fight on UFC wired, was between Matt Wiman and Thiago Tavares, I seriously didn't rate Matt straight off, but fuck he had some skill considering, He knocked Tavares the fuck out in the 2nd round after taking a good himself at the start of the round, with some refining I reckon he'd be pretty good.
Fights like that get me excited for UFC.

The event sold out during the first few days tickets were released, so I think your "choice" has been made for you.

Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Cain Velasquez
Wanderlei Silva vs. Michael Bisping
Mirko Filipović vs. Ben Rothwell
Keith Jardine vs. Ryan Bader

107 was good. Not a Sanchez fan, but he does always put on a show. Didn't expect him to be dominated the way he was. Penn won't go up a weight class. St Pierre destroyed him when he did that.

I wanted to go to 110. $450 for the best seats in the house is brilliant!!! If only I could afford it.
