do they always fuck you around??

my mate had his car stolen a few weeks ago and is insured with the RAC... he thought it would be as easy as the adverts say when it came to making a claim, yet all that has happened so far is delays and crap.
now they are sending someone out for an interview or some shit

i remember when my old car got nicked, they waited 2 weeks then decided to pay me out as it wasnt found... but they still jacked me around with a price because it wasnt an agreed value and i ended up settling with an amount which i couldnt even go buy the same kind of car for (was with ING or someone)

i was never interviewed or anything so dunno what the RAC are pulling....
i reckon they are trying to get out of paying it - somehow!

anyone else ever had an interview?

They don't make money by paying out claims so they will fuck you around as much as is necessary if it means they can get out of paying.

The interview is generally because they have some reason to suspect their may be something dodgy about it. I've been interviewed by private investigators just over a 3rd party personal injury claim. If they can find a way to avoid paying out, they'll try their hardest.

If you ever get investigated privatley whatch out for the pingpingpingpings!

Had an interview with one then he came back and asked me to sign a statement of what was transcripted a few days later.

the whole thing was completely mis-constrewed and wrong! made me look like the bad guy! had to prety much re write and intial everyline on the whole thing to fix it, hours wasted to keep me in the clear! Get someone elese present with you in the interview and get them to read it as well!

At the end of the day an investigaotrs job is to get the company out of paying! They also get you to sign a court records release permission form!

then do the whole "well you dont have to sign it now, but if the insurance company request it youll have to pay and its $400 bucks, if you sign now they'll pay for it"

told him to go shove it, if they really want it they can get a court order for it!

long story short! dont trust or do anything they say, give the bare minimum and the truth! pingpingpingpings!

The interview is to find out if you can supply any information for them to follow, and the will make you wait 30 days from the day reported and not an hour less before the $$$ are handed over, Should the vehicle be recovered before this happens, all bets are off and reassessed.

Lost a VU yoot, RAC replaced it, no worries. Just a long wait.

do you guys think an insurance company are just going to write you a cheque for what you want and be done with it? they are running a business too and not every customer is 100% truthful.

Yup. I pay insurance premiums as asked, I demand to get paid out as asked. It's a two way street...

Agreed on the 2-way street point, if something like that happened to me the longer I was fucked around with it the more stressed you would be getting & harder to get along with things.

As for the interview or whatever some might do, in that case I would get a tape recorder for it to make sure it's all fair game.

so did they interview you?

dunno if i should tell him to be wary and watch out for getting fucked over or if it is just standard RAC policy....

my Brother was interviewed when he wrote off the Barina, SGIO sent a investigator over, recorded whole conversation and had it written out. it took 5mths to get a pay out. were being real shits about the agree value as I had covered it for full replacement of vehicle and all the mods it had on it

people who lie about vehicle details/mods etc, lie about their driving history etc still seem to whinge when they dont get paid out or have investigators digging a bit deeper than normal. the most common one is "forgetting to advise of your half a dozen speeding fines you have had".

if your 100% upfront and honest, you get your money, fair enough.

You would be surprised just how hard it actually is for an insurance company to deny paying a claim, and get away with it.....

More truth in that sentance than any other insurance thread to grace the pages of antilag

its that fundamentally simple...

Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck. - Dalai Lama

depending on the situation and if everything is mickey mouse and there are no "discrepancies", most cases should go smoothly?

People remember the worst of experiences and ignore the good things happening *sigh*

its not that they don't pay its how long it take while they're trying to avoid paying.
I was passenger in my mates ute when it was rammed by a stolen car. The kid was out of gaol before a cent was paid!! and they did him for 2 pages of charges as writing my mates ute of was just half way through a 2 hour crime spree ending in attempted armed robbery( where he was caught )
it was a clear cut case, why did it take so long for rac to pay out??

dont know, ask them. there are panels you can take your disputes to.

if you hate dealing with insurance so much, perhaps you should try your luck and not have it at all?!

I've got insurance don't roll without it...
all they were saying was cops haven't given them the name of the other driver so heaps more hoops to jump through. the other driver was 14 so the law says no name....
I was injured and because of that my medical bill weren't paid till the cop gave the insurance some report. needless to say the little bugger was free before my medical was paid. didn't really need the stress.

FFS seriously a clean cut claim is a matter of fuckall stages of action:

- claim form / lodgement
- Quote
- arrange assessment
Pending on quote & assessment...whether write off / repairable:
-If written off... insurer offers settlement based on cars value less deductibles & outstanding premium, client accepts, sign a written off vehicle release form. Cheque in the mail 4 days later
- If repairable... assessor authorizes repairs, vehicle gets fixed, keep in mind delays could be due to extent of damage... pending fault, excess may be payable when repairs are complete

Thats a clean cut claim. Shouldnt take any longer than a few weeks to a month. if its taking longer its either:
- not a clean cut claim, investigation, injury, etc
- your being a retard and somehow not doing something you should that is likely stopping expedition of your claim, ie: police report, excess payment, arguing over settlement amounts, etc... shit that your accountable for

Thats across the board. All domestic motor vehicle insurers run pretty much the same show.

As 1JZVL said, fuk yeh people remember the negative and thats all thats passed around. Who the fuck sits around saying... "Oh Gerald... im so impressed with the claim service at Allianz... insurance companies really arent so bad afterall..."

Dont be a wanker and demand shit and dont be unreasonable to a insurer and its likely your claim will miraculously get paid quickly. Domestic Insurance companies are big... their amounts of clients are large... and we all pay fuckall premium for fuckall risk... its chump change to them and they dont really care about making sure your quote got to your repairer last thursday when you said you'd send it. Except a handfull of specialist insurers... who you pay a little bit more for better service...

Now who here pays for premium cover, ie: MB, LSV, Shannons etc... and has anything to say about shit claims service? which is all that matters at the end of the day...

Beating on the dead horse of "Fuck insurance companies are cvnts" is getting very played out... its not rocket science hey. Pay more premium if you need babysitting to see through a claim.

Fuck you insurance dudes! :)

I wrote my first s13 off. Had the accident, got towed to Just Car 2 days later. 5 days later was assesed and told it was a right off. Got my cheque in the mail ~ 2 weeks later. Car was dropped off at mine around the same time. Was hassle free and shit.

But, i have been fucked over by an assesor atm. Took car to get new clutch, as it had melted to flywheel, early Feb. Go to pick up car to find front bar smashed, broken headlight and bonnet bent on drivers side corner. I got a quote tof ix it 2 weeks later. Easter weekend (roughly 6 weeks later) the assessor comes out and looks at the car and tells me that he doesnt beleive the bonnet was bent in the accident. Not much i can really do about it. Received cheque for 1500 dollars last week.

So all in all, last experience with Zurich has been a real bitch. I have wanted to sell the car since January and have found a car i want. its taken 5 months for something simple.

i seriously cannot believe some of the bullshit that gets thrown around here!
In regards to the insurance companies 'investigating' etc, you can blame the dodgy dishonest money hungry fucks that are trying to make fraudulant and dishonest claims for that. this is the case is so many different situations, dishonest people ruining it for everybody! as everybody has said, it is not as straight forward as some may seem. working in the industry really opens your eyes to this!!

I pay $1000 a year premiums, why should i have to wait 21 days to get a payout on my $20000 car when it gets stolen? i mean I can go to the casino and put 1000 on number 18 and get the money straight away, 36k baby!

Then go to the black jack table and double it again, Insurance companies suck!

Me...

Insured car with Shannons once i started the transfer of the funds to the previous owner... so i was covered when i picked the car up.

Owned the car for 23 hours after the funds had been transferred into his account. Was in a 4 car crash on the freeway. I was second car from the front. Guy 2 cars back decided to push the commodore ute behind me into me, and me into the soarer in front...

Now, i did it all the right way, and did a report at the police station and rang shannons and gave them all the details... which was all well and good...

Until i had to speak to some guy named "Sean" ?
Guy tried to flirt with me and pick me up over the phone and he even stalked me to the point he was playing in the SAME BASKETALL TEAM :(

Okay, so maybe i have no complaint... Car was valued and assessed within reasonable time and was fixed in time for AutoSalon 07...

Shannons, for the car enthusiast... Won't go anywhere else.
