Finally it's been made official and had a launch! Been hanging for this game for ages, still play Forza 2 for hours after 2 years. It looks ridiculous, graphics are amazing and cars actually sound different, and how they should. You can do more than just an engine swap, full drivetrains are changeable aswell as 50% more items to swap around. And I think there's also going to be branded equipment to choose from, eg diff brand swaybars I heard in one of the vids.

New modes including Circuit, Oval, Time Attack, Drift and Drag. A game using a realistic physics engine for drift and drag will be awesome, will really make you set up your car.

400 cars. 100 tracks. 50 manufacturers with all the big names. Cant farkin wait. Also, a new steering wheel with working clutch and 6 speed H pattern shifter, licensed by Porsche that is also multi-platform, so you can use it on your PC.

Haha no shit. I got 2 weeks off end of October, games released in my first week off. Ordering collectors copy and the new wheel this week sometime.
Apparently you can even create your own races, choosing tracks and then what sort of race you want on it, setting challenges etc.

OH, and something else I forgot and probly means fuckall to ppl here anyway, but there's Aussie cars and tracks this time round. Old monaro's and torana's, some old falcons and hopefully some new ones too.

Game price is $60 US so 100ish here, the decent games are usually around the $110-$120 mark. There's a standard and Collectors edition, collectors usually comes in a cool box with a book and extra cars.

Wheel is set to be pricey, think G25 money. It's the only one Porsche rekon is good enough to put their name on, and from what I've read you can change the feel of the wheel and pedals, making brakes firmer and the clutch lighter etc. 900* rotation and 3 way force feedback, pretty full on.

Microsft and Logitech don't play nicely together. So the while the G25 and other cheaper/easily available Logitech wheels are compatible with the PS3 and PC they are still not supported by the Xbox 360. A G25 can be picked up for around $300 while 360 owners can use the official Microsoft piece-of-shit wheel or fork out $500 for the Porsche Wheel.

A good console/wheel/game setup for the 360 will require the Pro console ($400), game ($100), wheel ($500), Wireless Networking Adapter (if you don't wan to to run ethernet cable from your router to the 360 - $150) and 12 months 'LIVE' membership to play online ($80). All up around $1100-1200 for the 360 setup.

A good console/wheel/game setup for the PS3 will require the console ($700), game ($100), wheel ($300). Online play is free. All up around $1100 for the PS3 setup. (plus you have a nice little Blu-Ray player)

Keep in mind that you will have to keep forking out $80 a year to play online with the 360. On the plus side, the Porsche wheel is compatible with 360, PS3 and PC so if you're a multi-console owner then it's not so bad.

I've already got a PS3+G25 and if M$ start supporting the G25 then I'll probably get a 360 and Forza. Otherwise I'll just wait a couple of months more for GT5.

BTW, GT5 was never going to be a launch title. But given how long it's taken it'd want to be fuckin' awesome.

I'm sort of Ricey on this; when the graphics engine was written for Forza 2 it was as efficient as they knew how; they now know more efficient ways, hence the better quality.

Apparently the RROD's was from poor quality soldering on the motherboards, which is supposedly fixed. Not sure if newer ones still get the problem, mine hasnt since I sent it back, and I got mine the day it was released. If anyones seen the Natal vid's from E3 you'd be amazed at just how far these things can go.

Should see the videos they have on live, all choreographed and quite BS but I like it! RROD occurred on my original 360 which I purchased the day forza2 was released. I have both Forza 2 + Gt 4 + prologue and gran turismo is miles ahead of forza and i guarantee still will.

The thing that shits me off with forza is every cup is the bloody the same. Same tracks might just have a couple of extra corners but its always the bloody same. At least gt has a shitload of tracks and somewhat mix it up a bit. Forza is also easy as hell and from the dot can pretty much go straight into big horsepower cars where as gran turismo feels like you have to earn it more.

The other thing GT has going for it is it has Rally and has now secured nascar as well ( dont really care bout nascar but will see )

I will hold final judgement till i play both forza 3 + gt5.

Forza 3 will ship on two DVDs. One has the core game and many of the tracks and the other disc has more cars and a few more tracks. The second DVD will be installed to the hard drive to access the additional cars and tracks.

So if you're buying another one don't get the cheapo Arcade unit.

Wireless is handy for playing games online. Xbox 360 online gaming costs $80 / year. Playing games wears out the batteries in your controller.

Graphics are on par (quality determined more by the game developer than anything else). More games don't mean better games (and you can't play them all). The Elite (with same 120GB drive) retails for $549 so it is more than the PS3. That said, I'm sure MS will chop the price soon anyway.

I'm not saying one is better than the other. Different feature sets at different costs.

Its usually the thermal paste that's used to hold on the gpu and cpu, goes all hard n shit and then it gets hot.

I havnt personally fixed it but a mate of mine has, and he rekons all you gotta do is take these 2 items off, add some decent thermal paste (artic silver) and away you go, no more problems

I believe the first generations xbox 360s were rubbish much like the 1st Gen IPhone. Now theyre OK. When my 360 RROD; purchased a new arcade console, swapped HDDs and kept playing. Forza3. I'm pre-ordering this weekend. :)

Good fun, graphics are pretty damned amazing. Cars really dont handle like all the hype has been suggesting, altho it has been a long time since I drove a factory stocker in forza 2. I'm used to them being alot more twitchy and edgey. In saying that you can race a Porsche Cup car and it's alot more responsive and crisp than the others in the demo.
AI seems harder than before which is good, sounds still arent all there tho. Everything has a pretty generic noise to it. Thundering through hills in a fezza sure didnt have the sound I was hoping for. But it's still only a demo so will wait for full release before I get all emo.

Winding mountain course and I only just managed to beat a 300c in an evo 10 on hard lol.

Got the demo and was playing it with mates last night its killer :D Was going to preorder today but the wheel that comes with it doesnt have a clutch? wtf? I cant find a wheel with clutch anywhere. Does anyone know if a new version of the g25 will come out with xbox support?

G25 will never be supported. It's to do with MS not allowing other companies the details of the force feedback system xbox uses. Pretty sure they struck something up with Fanatec just for Forza 3 but the thing costs more than the 360 itself and isnt even available in Aus.

Unless they are releasing a new wheel of their own then it's a big cocktease saying 6 speeds and clutch will work but YOU CANT HAVE THEM!...

Been playing forza 3 demo using my MS wheel and fark its MUCH better. Managed to better my times using the evo and farrari. Still reckon i have a few more 10ths in it too. Makes cornering much better.

Back is killing tho, really need to make up a decent seat etc for it, but your right Kirbo....much better to race using the wheel.

I have been using no computer assists on forza 2 for some time. You learn to be progressive on the brake very quickly when its the difference between 1st place or into a wall with a fucked motor. Wheel & no assists makes for a lot of fun drifting. Just do some free laps in a half decent rwd. Every car is different so practice each car before racing pretty much. Once you get good, its second nature. I have my MS wheel mounted on a solid desk about 18" in front of a 37" Toshiba LCD. Works a treat in my limited space.

sucks being away from home and not being able to play this, do the cars handle as good as forza 2? they havnt tried to make it more arcade or anything stupid like that? how fast are the menus? is the damage much better? is driving with cockpit easy or just wank factor?

i cranked my wheel out with this last night and the wheel support defo feels better than Forza 2.. but fark me i still need a racing cockpit of some type! there was a GB on Playseat Evolutions floating around one of teh forums, must see if its still a goer

i think the cars handle better then forza 2, they seem a bit more planted and heavier i guess. Definatly not more arcade once you turn all the assists of (there is an auto braking feature you can have on ??) menu's are pretty fast but the load times are a bit higher. Whether that is a demo thing or it will be like that in the full game, not sure. the damage looks the same to me, and haven't tried the cockpit view yet, im a chase cam kinda guy.

The cars handle differently imo. The new tire physics are pretty noticable and the handling of cars has definately improved. The incar view is pretty good and i found that its quite easy to race in that view (i usually race with the ground view) as the cornering and speed were easy to determine.
Gay part - the driver doesnt change gears, the hands just remain on the wheel at all times.
The demo has some jaggys so hopefully its not a reflection on the game, altho im only running it on 720p as my LCD wont run on 1080.

Menus in the demo are different to the actual game, but from the reviews its much easier to get into a race then it was in Forza 2.

Damage looks to be the exact same in the demo as with Forza 2. But if you look closely, there are some improvements such as bigger indents into the c pillar if you smack it hard enough, and dents to the roof if you roll.
The rolling is pretty gay...as you can control the car with the left stick to gt it back on its wheels.

Its still the good old forza but with some tweeks and slight changes. More so to the 'feel' of the game.

Thats just my opinion tho.

PS: GT on PSP is out today for those of you that want a portable gaming fix ;)

Be interesting to see what a completely modded GTR goes like,if it pulls as hard as what 700kw would do in a 1100kg car,will be intense!

Apparently turning down the shaprness gives bullshit results, also turning of noise reduction if your tv has it. and of course go through the usual STANDARD, CINEMA, GAME etc options. apparently there should be no Anti ailailising problems with the game

worst place for jaggies i find is in pre-race where your car is rotating - in game its less noticeable

the reason for that is they are different models to what u actually race with belive it or not, higher texture resolution and more polygons.

after giving the R8 some shit I was like wow!... you can really chuck it through corners and the track has such great long corners.. the detail is amazing!
