You will have to contact the company the other dude is insured for and ask them.. its different for companies as to what they offer..

My fiance had a 93 subaru impreza with a genuine STI bodykit/wing lowered with rims and exhaust with new low prfile tyres and dvd player and stuff in it.

I was on the freeway (yes uninsured) and the freeway was stopped. I always leave a car gap in those situations, dont understand why everyone has to park bumper to bump.

Anyway a guy was going flat out changed into my lane and was still looking in the other lane and hit me flat out, luckily I had left the gap and didnt hit the car infront.

My fiance had only bought the car for $8000 not to long before. They came to me with an offer of $1400 for the car (because I was keeping it) and another $1000 ontop because "thats all a 1993 impreza is worth". When I told them it wasnt just an impreza and that they were going for a shitload more than that (at the time) they told me they wouldn't pay and that her car isnt a wrx. I told them I never said it was but it had all the panels from one and to replace that would cost a shitload. In the end I when I bought a quokka took it to them and showed them what all the Fake wrx/stis were going for all around $7000-8000 and told them I wasn't accepting any less and if they didnt want to pay out they could buy an impreza, source all the parts and give it to me in the exact same condition it was in before the smash.

They went away and came back with an offer of $7500.

If you can prove its worth what you say it is by comparing with similar cars then you have a chance. Just DONT accept there low ball offers. Luckily for me they were paying for my hire car so everytime I refused to accept it was costing them however many days/weeks in hire car haha.

Also there wrecker rang me and said he had seen pics of the car and wanted to buy it for $1400. I said no worries mate I'll just strip all the panels off, the sti wing, wrx bonnet, DVD player, sound system, rims with new tyres, etc and give it to him standard.
He said no deal I want that stuff and I was like put the pipe down man the dvd player is worth the $1400 itself let alone the rest of the stuff on the car.

Insurance people are just cracked out theives my man, you ahve to wheel and deal to get what you deserve, after all THEY ARE PAID TO TAKE THE BLAME FROM THERE SHITTY CLIENT WHO OBVIOUSLY CANT DRIVE AND HAS DESTROYED SOMETHING OF YOURS WHICH PREVIOUSLY WAS FINE!

You need more than one, I found like 5 in the same quokka, all same same mods same km'sish and stuff.
You pretty much need to find a bunch of civics that are pretty much the same, print all the for sale ads, buy some quokkas and circle them and get all the ammo you can.

They are fucking weasels dont let them scare you.

Id say that $4300 is what your salvage cost is as per their value. They don't care what's in there really and everything is undervalued.

My friends CRX with a B18C and heaps of other mods was valued at $300.

this is the way I see it - having only 3rd party gives you the car - you get to keep it as it is and take parts out of it.
What you need to do is now get the other guys insurance to cover you for the rest of the 'worth of the car' and you will probably have to fight for it.

so say the equivalent of the car you owned is worth 10k all up, they value it at current state as 4K - you should have every right to get the 6K for the damage the dude did to your car in cash. You keep the car and the 6K cash, you buy a new car and swap everything over.

In all honesty you want the current value of your car to be as little as possible and try and get as much from the other company as possible... you want the value of the 'salvage' of your car.

If you can get quotes for repairs that are close to replacement cost of the car, they will try to have their own assessor lowball those quotes.

An ex had an Evo 1 that she punted into the back of another car. Damage was minor to look at but ended up being a fairly expensive fix. Her repairer quoted $20k to repair with genuine parts, paint, etc. Assessor treated it like a base model Lancer (GSR at best because the early Evos had GSR stickers on them) and told her it could be repaired for $7k (personally I think it probably could have). She told him to jam it and they ended up either paying out or declaring it a financial write off and she kept the car (imported another one to use for parts).

Don't just cop whatever they tell you it's worth if you think it's worth more. It's their job to pay out as little as possible, not to help you.

Hi Slip,

My Dromedary was re ended by a goat today on the mountain path, it fell into the ravine and died, i only had the dromedary insured for 2 sheckles i think its worth 4, how can i get the goat owner to pay for the rest, i believe the salvage value of the dromedary is .5 a sheckle but i dont want it because the meat is too tough.

miss_petepie

also please note the goat was a protype.. might need to be reflected in the value... salvage rights might also be needed..

Would this be the goat that was being herded daily whilst on 03 use, with cattle club plate discount that is supposedly meant to be restricted to one off events?

Looks like it will be written off...

Just got a estimate, bit of under body damage and suspencion...

By what the bloke was telling me insurance companies value on the car is base on the body of the car they dont give a crap bout interior or motor/drive train...

ill strip the car is its not worth fixing and they car come with a tray back truck and load the stripped body if thats all thats worth to them....

Ill buy another civic and replace all over again

I always thought aslong as u told the insures what mods u were doing along the way.. They insure accordingly.

Obviously if u insure your stock car when you buy it... Then go nuts and work it (engine or body). They will only cover you for what you have told them its worth. (Stock car)
I always gave them the heads up on the mods if was doing to my car and the price my car was insured for went up, as did my premiums but not by much.

im with just car complain either...got stolen, was insured for 24k.. ended up costing them 18k to fix, copped 4k of new exhaust, new 20s even though they werent on my policy and they just put them on as they covered for an extra $400, so $3k worth of rims for $400 -i win...just dont bother goin to them if you have specialised shit in a 1990 shitter skyline or equal cause they wont cover you for nothing.
