ok so i got my S14 yellow stickered last night. Found three things before even opening up the hood. 1. HID headlights have no washers. 2. Blow off valve to be silent 3. Grill to be fitted to intercooler
Other parts that will need changing before going over the pits:
1. Pod Filter
2. Tein Super Street Coilovers
Does anyone know if you can get over the pits with:
1. Stainless steel manifold
2. 3" straight through exhaust
3. 19" rims
Was wondering if anyone happens to have stock suspension for an s14 just lying around that i could borrow? will pay money too
Does anyone know what headlight washers are or where i could pick some up?

with the coilovers, most my mates get over the pits with the same setup, they just higher the right hide and dont make it look so noticable
"Straight through exhaust" - If you don't have a catylitic converter you will get arsed raped!!
FMIC - No grill required, as long as it is within the bumper itself and not jutting out the bottom.
POD - like others have said get a bracket so it stays in position and whilst your at the pits get a permit for it. Save you the hassle next time.

picking up stock 15"s tomorrow meant to grab them of the previous owner when i picked up the car, hopefully they have some tread on them.
Blow of valve is just a bolt on one so il spend some time looking for something to cover the hole when i take it off.
Picked up some mesh from auto pro this morning, just going to cable tie it on in front of the intercooler

what happens if the HIDs are factory, IE S15 JDM headlights?
go to bunnings and buy those rubber things you put on the bottom of chair legs and then use a hose clamp over it , and dont bother putting the bov back on they sound shit and not worth the hassle

you dont need mesh over the intercooler..

what happens if the HIDs are factory, IE S15 JDM headlights?
they would have been taken out for compliance and replaced with halogen
same as what happens with any jap car with HID lights

id be careful with plugging up the BOV, my flutter was louder then any bov ive ever had.. and they will say make that silent and you will be like aaah i cant, get stock bov if you can. and it cannot vent to atmosphere

Tein Super Streets are Fine, u can adjust the height, and wind all the way to the left for the softest. When they were first released they were the first STREET LEGAL coil-over suspension system. The s14 were relased with 16's. Pod is fine with a bracket, The bov you have is a HKS Super Squeek.... so only hope u got is d/conecting it and praying u have a stock t28 turbo as they dont have so much flutter. With the exhaust you are fine if you got a cat in the centre and then smash on a silencer at the back. Don't know about the HID's but s14's came with NORMAL lights, and thats what they are going to go buy unless there is a loop-hole. And if you got a Open-Mouth Body-Kit prepare for a shock when they ask you u need a mesh over the cooler.......as you may suck up oncoming 6 year-olds

you NEED mesh over the intercooler, most pit guys will notice it and fail you, but some may not notice it....quite an easy job, wouldn't risk failing cause of mesh..
19" is prob too big since s14 came with 16"
Make sure the pod doesn't move around and you're fine
From what I know, and was told by the pit guys last time i went over, coilovers are illigal, i seriously doubt they will pass you with coilovers.
You're gonna need a cat on the exhaust
I passed with HIDs and the wires all hanging loosly just behind my headlights, so I don't think they care too much about it.
I just passed pits on thurs and i can tell you that
- HIDs need to come out
- Block up BOV and put stock airbox in (that will silence the flutter)
- Put stock rims on
- I/C does not need grill/mesh
- Exhaust might be too loud if there isn't an additional muffler, try and get a silencer for it
- Coilovers are iffy, some let you pass, some don't

because of how 'consistent' these guys at the pits are, your going to get a few mixed reactions, one thing i can assure you. with my old black sil it passed over with super street coilovers twice, with a decent height and the softest setting you are fine.
How much is a stock set of struts worth anyways? Fuck all. Just get em, smash em in, and then you won't have to worry about it.
Would suck if you passed on everything else, EXCEPT the coilovers.

are you saying you passed with no cat?

whacked some super cheap auto mesh in front of the intercooler yesterday morning.
Took out bov this arvo but ther is alot of flutter coming from the pod filter, dont think a stock air filter will fit in due 2 the pipework as u can c from the pic above.
going to pray they dnt pick the coilovers, getting them wound rite up and on the softest level on tues.
Assuming il have to take the hids out due to the fact i have no idea wat washers the cop was talking bt, the wiring and setup is very clean, going to an auto electrician just to be safe.
while ther got to get my horn checked, it has recently decided not to work
going to check in at a cople of muffler places n c wat i can do bt the exhaust
Going to pits on fri
if anything fails should b abl 2 get an extension

only reason i say this is the more stock you make your car look the more inclined they are to pass it, if you try go there with HID and shit, im not sure why but they just act as if your been cheeky.

stock rims with brand new tread put on car today
coilovers taken replaced with stock suspension today
HIDs being converted back to stock tomorrow
picking up stock exhaust on fri and fitting on the w.e
horn of all things being fixed early nxt week
onli problem i should have is the pod filter, as can see in the pics at the top, it is bracketed down but does make quite a bit of flutter wen the revs drop sharply ie. gear change. if i cant get a permit for that the whole intercooler setup is going to have 2 be changed as the stock filter wont fit due to the large intercooler pipe takes over alot of that space
car booked to be taken over the pits on fri 5/6

Even one of those cheapo 'heat shields' might be able to silence the pod filter a bit.
my brother got over with his s13 with epic flutter and the same pod filter bracket and cooler set up . Im sure you will be fine.

HID headlights taken out and replaced with stock headlights today
stock exhaust fitted on tues
part for horn takes 2-3 weeks to get here from japan
car is under my grandads name for insurance purposes so hes taking the car 2 the pits, hopefully evidence that the part 4 the horn is on its way should convince them 2 let that bit slide

its allowed to be audiable, just as long as its plumbed back into the exhaust system not vented externaly. My cars BOV is fucking loud and it is the stock factory fitted OEM BOV, its just loud as the boost is alot higher than factory and the piping has ben changed. It is still legal though.

what about a short shifter, has anyone had any problems going over the pits with one, will it be an easy thing to spot?

I've heard things like they like to see the H pattern (1st, 2nd, 3rd, Reverse etc) on top of the gearstick like most standard cars come with. But i think it's bs. I passed at Midland with a short shifter and plain white gear knob. As long as it's easy to engage and is nice and tight (not rattly or worn), you should be fine man.

99% sure mate, The only way it wouldn't be legal is if it exceded the DB level that they set for exhausts. I highly doubt even a loud BOV would do that and its not like they thrash your car and hit full boost when they test drive it. They just 'put' it round the block and make sure its 'safe'.

i rekon it all depends on which pits you go and which inspector you get and what mood he's in my s13 was unregistered 4 6 months while i built it up passed first time with coilovers, decent sized exhaust, clear tail lights and a bov i just disconected the air line to the top of it so it was just the flutter from pod, just try make it look as stock as possible dress smart, be polite and see how you go luck of the draw :)

easiest solution to stop flutter, unclip the lever arm that goes fom the actuator to the wastegate flap on the turbo. Its a small circlip and piece of roundbar DO NOT JUST UNPLUG THE VAC LINE TO ACTUATOR.
This way the turbo make no boost so u get no induction noise, no flutter, no BOV goin off. I done this on my old Cefiro cos RB20 have crazy induction noise and i didn have stock airbox or anythin. went over pits fine like this.
Then once passed just slip the lever back on the wastegate flap and car is back to normal.

exhaust swapped 2day
car is now 100% stock except for:
pod filter (bracketed down)
front mount intercooler
car is in the name of my grand dad for insurance purposes and hes gna b the 1 takin it down so ther shouldnt b any problems
onli problem that could arise is the horn, doesnt work at the minute but the required part has been purchased from nissan and thers proof of it, so hopefully il get sum1 who wont b a dick and all will b good

i had to source stock suspension and new tread for the stock rims which cost the most, but i hav all the parts i need for next time now
