New boot install features 3x12" Alpines, would it be better to have 3 individual smaller amps or 1 large amp and what wattage of each?
Previous owner has said it was running on 2x600W but then I was told by a mate about this 3small/1large combo. Any ideas?
Also, would I need something separate to power the speakers in the door installs? Each door as 8"+3"+tweeter.
The install was apparently done by Alberts so I may give them a call as well, but any replies would be helpful.

First things first, you would definitly want to have an amp for your door speakers or 'front stage'. Judging by the sounds of the speaker dimensions you may be running Dynaudio 3 way up there??? They'll take over 200WRMS so get a really nice amp for them. If you can bi-wire or bi-amp them then I'd be doing that. One channel off the amp will drive the 8" while the other channel powers the mid and tweeter.
What are the specs on your Alpine subs? Dual 2 or 4 ohm voice coils? Type R or Type X? Either way you'll want at least 300WRMS going into each sub so you'll need 3 amps that make 300WRMS or one big sucker that'll punch out 1000WRMS.
Alpine do the PDX amps which are superb value for money. I'd look into at least a PDX 1.1000 for the subs and a PDX 4.150 either run active or bridged for the front speakers

added advantage of the PXD series amps is that they can also be stacked and have low weight and a small foot print

PDX require like 14v or some shit to get those RMS figures... They are also very expensive (last time I looked). You could get away with one of the old V12 amps or even the slightly newish V-Power amps to run 12" Alpine subs.
But if your not on a budget then go the PDX lol.

Not sure on the exact specs of the Alpines, I'll find out when I pick the car up on Friday. So yeah really not keen on changing the subs. I've basically bought the car only for the audio install and a few other bits and pieces that I'll transfer over to my TX3 and keep this new one as a bit of a project car in my spare time.
The front speakers are MB Quartz as well btw.

Contact the guys at Alberts Cannington. They'll help you out.
If it was my car, I would build a custom box for two subs and use one nice amp to power both. Then again you already have the box blah blah blah.

They're more than likely the blokes who made it anyway, should know what to do, cheers!

Bit of a late reply, but the rear 3x12" subs are Type-S Alpines.
