Nissan s12 Gazelle (85)

Well after reading Andy's AE86 showcase I had a look around and was quite lucky to grab this bargain off here last weekend!!! Sold with leaking exhaust and rear main leak plus there is a tremendous weird wind / rattle in the dash when you go over 60km/ph. I think the vents are full of leaves or soemthing ( does anyone know what this mite be??)

Bought this little beast home took off the standard exhaust and lower engine covers found it was just the oil sender pissing about a litre a minute of oil threw a plug in it $1.25 and exhaust leak cost $20 labor to fix plus they fitted a little fart exhaust for $80. (Rally SPEC, LOL)

Reason for buying is to attend Bormsa's and other offroad clubs amateur rally events and hopefully build up a similar setup as Andy has to enjoy a proper session of rallying next year.

Very very stock right now nothing much to look at. Thanks to KRUDD for paying for it!!!

1985 Nissan s12 Silvia/Gazelle coupe
Ca20e, 5sp Manual, IRS, LSD
180sx Seats, A/C, Stezza and funky DASH... --> everything works!! (Suprisingly)
Running on Nice offset mesh SSR's with chrome lip (make the car look nice and fat)


Mods to come:
Extractors --> 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 inch pipe
Freshen up on motor, try get a solid bottom end and skim the head to get some compresion. Upgrade injectors and ECU. ( Gota look into the rule book a bit further as they must be production based... STOCK)
Complete front and rear re-bushing and replacement of suspension with aftermarket stiffer shocks & springs.
Brake upgrade
Proper offroad tyres and will test out diferent wheels over the next few events.
Racing Seats & Harnesses
Full Roll cage
Lots of chasis strengthening ---> welding

And probably a bit of other crap but you get the gyst!

Dude you should have grabbed the spare engine and box in the shed, it has extractors already on it, plus you can build that motor while driving the car still, it was free!

If I wasnt keeping it stock I would love to smash an RB in it but the CA would be easier.

LOL, Nice slide dude, That's what I was considering using it for. Don't worry about the noise from the dash, I think there's some leaves or something caught in the fan, Seems to come and go.

I worked out what the noise was!!! after listening to it while driving another car next to it I worked out it was actually on the outside!!

Stupid plastic on the chrome strip was half peeling off!

im pretty sure this thing will get a heart transplant as I love it to bits! Did you do your fj20 conversion yourself? i'd be keen to get some ideas for future mods! thinking ca18 is the easiest and cheapest way to go, but hopefully if Berny makes a solid decision to go a rb25 in his r32 i can snatch up his rb20! possibly too heavy for somehting this small? What about a 308?

nah that's the vg30
vq30det is a later model all alloy motor that came out in nissan cima's and other luxo barges, but they're very light and make awesome power and torque , better than an sr for sure but the sr would probably make for an easier conversion, also easier to find mods and parts for
the vq is also a lot more compact than the vg30

Car has been driven by housemate for last 4 months.. blew head - piston 4 was full of water.. rather amusing.. fixed up put back together - almost doubled in power... Air con is colder than my Commodore car runs awesome.

Mate got a yellow sticker this morning for tyres sticking out of body.. GAY

Will try get guards rolle, anyone flare guards out? not just roll guards to stop rubbing I mean push out guards front and back so wheels sit in?

Or where can I get flares to suit?

Dude your never gonna get the guards out more than they are, they have been rolled hardcore,we got about another 10 - 15mm out of them already with a guard roller,short of buckling the metal you wont get anymore.
Best bet is to find some SLR 5000 spec bolt ons and cut to suit.

You have 4 Stud hubs, they wont fit.
You werent getting over the pits with the way the tyres are stretched over those rims anyway, I'll find out if my mate has the stock rims still.

Just spoke with a guy at work and he has stretched tyres on wheels on a r34 which sit out a good 15mm and they let him through...
