Thats crap i had a VS 5litre ute spent around 2k on lowered springs, Short shocks, massive adjustable swaybars and adjustable strut tops and that would quite comfortable catch the wrxs/evos on the straights, and would be a little slower through the corners as it still had a tendency to oversteer but was easily controlable.

Its all a matter of learning how to drive your car properly.

the newer v8 stuff can be very quick through the hills with a competent driver (aka Ricey, Brute etc). Have much respect for the guys belting such big cars through some places.

My car is pretty good at the twisty stuff, but i have shit headlights and dont want to risk binning it into a tree.
Pretty simple, back of the pack, skip the run, or if you get caught up, indicate and let faster cars past.

the way i run cruises though hills people with capable cars and skills go up the front people without typically commos and falcy's should run at the back, nothing worse being in a targa spec rx7 and getting stuck behind a clubby, as no matter how hard he drives its still slow compared to what im prepared to do.. etc etc
