Are there many regular off-road rally events here in WA?

I don't know much about this scene, but is there weekend races etc or is it simply the ocassional 'forrest rally' etc etc?

I service for Derek Reddie in the galant VR4 (forest rally warc winners, pure luck).

There is an event this weekend if you are interested, should be able to help you out with accom if you want to come down. Is fucking cold though and prolly not the best event if your coming to take a look at the sport. Better off coming to SA or NSW for their rallys as you do chase service and get to follow the cars around, much more interesting.

This round however is 'no pace notes' with nite time driving so should be a few offs.

im doing a road closure in the lewana rally this weekend, only as ive serviced for the past 4 years and my car is broken, hence not entering the event :) (and i HATE blind rallies)
i work for Leigh Hynes, the 08 state champion..

I can steer you in the direction you want to go in regards to rallying if you want paul :)

Leigh Hynes took a impressive win this weekend, with us a distant 2nd getting followed by a charging Lee Mcilroy who had the advantage of a 6 min gap between him and the preceeding car due to Chucky DNF'ing with engine dramas. (allowing dust to settle)

They ended up calling off the event with 4 stages to go as drivers were having to stop mid stage to regain sight of corners.

The old galant came back straight ish, as straight as it went there.

Bring on Collie in a months time.

So how did collie go for you guys, i heard about what happened to derek and that was just plain stupid. Andy, you were givin it some stick, and that thing sounds incredible when on full noise. What was it like for the competitors.

Haha, thanks :) I was only giving it a partial go, the intercom in my car all but gave up the go and only heard half the notes. I finished, so that was ok i guess. Roads are incredible, most fun ive had on a rally...

a few cars went off, mostly front enders, but nobody got hurt.

Leigh hynes and Stuart percival won again,
2'10 infront of John Macara and Nick Box (of asg fame as some of you would know)
Chris Anderson and Toni Feaver 3rd.

andy those videos are fucking brilliant!

brockas check out andys mc68s thread on his ae86 as well, we had this discussion about 3 months ago in there.. just the amateur stuff but its a start!! and even my $1000 bunky was good enuff! with some cash and some time you could get into some serious competition.

problem is most of it is fucking hours away! so if you damage the car your stuck or you travel heavy with a pit crew and 2 vehicles / trailer ect...

Trying to compete with a 20year old vr4 on a budget up with the spec c subis and chucky is actually kinda difficult. He pushes pretty hard. Twas a mistake nonetheless, but was pushing hard hard.

No where near the front runners.

Just stayed in the hotel room and went to bed sat night, didnt see the need to go out and drink.

You know it's a hard hit when the driver and co-driver are complaining of muscle strains less than an hour after it happened.
