Hey all,

This is sw33t here (just using my brothers account), not the ideal section I know but I need a quick answer to try & organise some shit

My clutch seems to have completely shat itself & I'm not sure why or what exactly has gone on. Came to my brothers house & was just going to take one of his mates for a drive, take off in first & go to find second & just got a massive grind. Left it in neutral til I came to a stop, but then couldn't get it to go back in gear. I can't select gears with the engine running & if push the clutch in & I start the gear in gear, it lurches & stalls as if the clutch wasn't in.

The clutch pressure doesn't feel any different, fluid seems fine & there is no visible leaking around. It's both strange & very fucking annoying as there was no problem before this, no slipping or anything. This clutch I've had for about 6 months to a year, but has had a lot less punishment than my previous clutch which even then I could still drive right til I got it replaced (slowly, as soon as the revs rose it would slip).

It seems to have died on the spot, but pretty much I need to get it somewhere from Maddington to get diagnosed from someone who knows what they are doing. Not sure what's going on with anytime these times, last I heard it had nothing to do with Gerrin any more?? But vaguely recall Gerrin said he was back to towing again...

Anyway I will need my car moved soon, maybe even tomorrow if possible. The car is about 120mm at the lowest point, but has a bomex front bar which can cause a problem for some angles so I need a towie that won't be smashing the fuck out of my bodykit to get it onto the truck.

Names & numbers would be much appreciated!

PS - And if anyone has heard of something similar happening before that would be a huge help too, I'm hoping it's something in between, not the need for a new clutch when I paid a grand & a half for something that I was told would be stronger than the 9-puck previously in & would take more punishment. For the record that punishment has never really came either so clutch abuse isn't the reason for what's happening now....

Cheers guys, Nathan

Welded clutch plate to flywheel i'd say. Common problem with extreme clutches.

Call Paul from Touch of Class on 0415 421 738 he has good prices. Tell him Rob sent you. He specializes in low cars (has a tiltray) and ive seen him tow some ridiculously low cars no problem. He towed my Rx7 to my new hous and it has a full widebody uras kit that sticks out heaps at the front and I can barely fit my foot under the front bar. No problems, no scratches :D

Thanks for the replies guys, it's much appreciated.

Going to try bleeding it out to see if there is air in the lines in the morning, could only be a long shot but may as well start with the easier stuff first. The problem lies that the clutch won't disengage, but after a bit of research I'm leaning towards the slave cylinder. That's only if the clutch itself isn't fucked, I'm just trying to not imagine that at the moment haha, this clutch has had too easy a life to die on me on the spot under minimal pressure!!

If it was your slave, it'd be more likely the clutch pedal would drop to the floor from no/low fluid.

Phizzle here, when I asked Nathan what clutch was in it and he said Extreme I shuddered and grimaced. Naughty, naughty clutches.

With the clutch pushed in and engine running at idle: The car won't select gears 2 thru 5 at all (as in no noises, feels like you'd really need to lean on it to get it into gear, seems stuck at the gate), but when you try to engage 1st she crunches like trying to shift in with no clutch at all.
With the engine off and clutch in & out it seems to be finding each gear as normal.

It appears Gerrin is busy/not answering and Paul from Touch of Class is in Brisvegas lording it up for the long weekend. Any other thoughts or towies peeps trust??

send Gerrin a sms, rather than call. but at this time of morning, he may be sleeping. try after 11am or something. he works nightshifts.

Looks like this is what's happened, finding out for sure in the morning as it will be internal. DEFINATELY GAY that this clutch copped like 10% of the punishment of the last one, then fucks itself out of nowhere.

Probably should have done this, tried calling 3-4 times but didn't even go to a messagebank, almost gave you a call anyway Gerrin because the tow truck I got organised through someone else arrived about 2/3hrs after it was supposed to arrive. Taking other jobs when you're expected by someone else is shit! At least the person that came had a truck suitable for my car (just), a few mm lower & it would have scraped like crazy.

Oh well, I'm pissed off but not much that can be done at the moment :hammer:
