Guys,

Currently in the market for a PS3 & want to know where i should be looking for the best deals/packages? I want it for both gaming & the Blu-Ray player, so added extras like Blu-Ray remote or games would be ideal...
I'm more into games like Gran Turismo & GTA so a pack with either of them would be mint!

Will also be keen for good secondhand packages at reasonable prices.

Cheers in advance :)

Second hand is the go if you're on a budget. But if you like warranty and things unmarked and shiny, go new.

Just keep an eye out on random forums, for example here. There's been like 4 or so pop up in the last month. Go for deals even if the games included are shit. Coz you can always trade em in and get a bit of money back or buy games you actually want.

I bought mine from some guy on Teknoscape a few months after the PS3 had come out for like $450! And then a few months later found my cousin one on Perthrotary for same price with HDMI cable, x2 controllers, 3 games etc.

The bundled game with the new PS3 consoles at the moment is Killzone 2 (awesome shooter). Bit under $700 at most places.

Grand Theft Auto 4 and GT5 Prologue used to be bundled but they're probably not available any more. GTA4 is $69 from JB's and GT5P can be picked up for less than $40 at most places anyway. You should be able to pick up the Bluray remote for under $50. The Logitech G25 wheel kit from PLE computers is $319.00

Even if you shop around the most your probably going to save on your $700-$800 investment is $20-25. Not worth the fuckin about in my opinion.

The only way to make any real price difference is to buy secondhand.

Just an FYI (in response to the pm)

Only the OLDEST PS3 (60GB) can play PS2 Games.

and the other 2 models, the 40gb and the 80gb are unable to play ps2 games, unless you download them from the Playstation Network.

Don't be deterred by a smaller HDD in it either. They are swapabble without breaking any seals (read: not damage your warranty). VERY easy to do. Mine was sold with a 40GB and I ran out of room reasonably quickly (downloading demos and game updates - GT5 has some HUGE ones). I now have a 320GB in there and no such worries any more.
