View Full Version : WTB: RB30ET
Looking for a RB30ET complete motor with wire loom and ecu and whatever else you may have. I'll most likely need a gearbox to suit as well
I'm interested in purchasing one of these motors as I want to do an engine swap with my VL (currently got a N/A RB30E innit)
Thanks
Regards, Rob

considered RB20DET dude? might be easier to come across....
Yeh I've considered the RB20DET in the VL and it's pretty much a waste of time and money. I know somebody who's done the conversion in the past and he's been very disappointed.
RB30ET would be much better off imo

i thought most ppl prefer the RB20DET conversion?? why do u say its a waste of money? i thought the RB30ET was only good if you were going really hardcore with it?

I had a 20 and a 30 with cooler, exhaust, and boost upgrades.
From that, I would definately choose the 30 if I did it again.
Nothing against the RB20, but its just not suited to the VL like the RB30 is.
With the RB20 you would definately need a 5spd and some decent diff gears to get it going whereas you can set a auto RB30 up nicely with stock 3.45 LSD.
Only problem is finding a decent RB30ET. There was a fully rebuilt one in the Quokka last week for $4500!

why not get hold of a VLT exhaust manifold, a T3, a fuel rail and an ECU. that's _pretty much_ all you need to convert an NA RB30E to an RB30ET. the standard bottom end is fine for up to 200rwkws (supposedly). a friend of mine has done this to his R31. it makes 236rwhp and he hasnt even spent $2000 on it yet ;)
In order for me to turbo up my current engine ill need a series 2 block which has oil and water lines. My existing engine isnt a series 2 so basically its too much screwin around. It'll be better off whacking in a RB30ET instead of stuffin with the current N/A
