yes the yellow 34 was showed dropping one and yes there was gemiii bagging it up to im pretty sure.
It was about hoon laws, if you get done 3 times on the 3rd time they will take the car and sell it or crush it. Because there was a 19yr old kid that just went to court cause he got done three times and on the 3rd time got his parents car impounded so they where ment to crush it or something but he won and just got it impounded for 6months.
got to love hoon laws

its like everyother media orientated outrageous / law / criminal story...
perp does something, media tells the story, cops / government / company looks stupid its changed next day... SAME!!!
eg - this fuckhead.. - bashing cops - driving winebageo and leaving while on cruise control... offering the whole australia $900... yadda yadda...
Mrs. Merv Grazinski, of Oklahoma City, who purchased a new 32-foot Winnebago motor home. On her first trip home, from an OU football game, having driven on to the freeway, she set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the driver's seat to go to the back of the Winnebago to make herself a sandwich.
"Not surprisingly, the motor home left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Also not surprisingly, Mrs. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not putting in the owner's manual that she couldn't actually leave the driver's seat while the cruise control was set.
"The Oklahoma jury awarded her - are you sitting down? - $1,750,000 plus a new motor home. Winnebago actually changed their manuals as a result of this suit, just in case Mrs. Grazinski has any relatives who might also buy a motor home.
so just be sure to be the first one to your stupid thing so you can get away with it...

Just saw the clip on Ch10... that silver car doing nuts @ truckstop was shown again. Damn hoons.
"We will review the policy and i will guarantee that a car will be crushed by christmas this year"
... So you're guarantee-ing that your system does NOT work and has in no way deterred the public from 'hooning'? Way to promote your failed system without realising so.

Can't see the law getting passed to allow vehicle crushing. From what I've heard if someone gets caught a third time the car they are caught in will be crushed. So, if someone is hoonlawed in someone elses car they want to crush that car. What if the car isn't theirs, or is under lease/HP contract - can't see the finance company being too happy with that result.
If the government was serious about road safety why not include drink/drug drivers under the hoon umbrella as well? The problem is, they do not have enough resources and storage areas to store all the cars impounded.
The hoon law is dumbshit law introduced in a kneejerk reaction by the labor government in an attempt to kurb road fatalities. Bet it's made fuck all difference to the road toll.

What if a finance company has a security over the vehicle? Do they get paid out first?
If this passes and they do end up selling the cars at auction after the 3rd strike, I hope that Rob Johnson takes some of the money and gets some fucking speech therapy.

Big call! Who said that... the Police minister? I love the way they assume legislation will just automatically pass. The last time they tried to get the crushing in it didn't make it through Parliament.

Yes, 3rd strike in a new car and the car goes bye bye.
'Strikes' remain for a period of 5 years under the current legislation but it's likely that the muppet Police Minister will change that.

Yeah, you are correct. It appears that the new legislation will be changed to 5 years (I was reading the proposed changes, not the current).
Edit: Scrap that, this is what the current legislation says:
Section 80 Impounding of vehicles for racing etc.
Where a court is satisfied that a person has been convicted of an impounding offence (driving) within the previous three years, it may order that vehicle used in the commission of the offence is to be surrendered to the Commissioner for Police and impounded for a period not exceeding three months.
Section 80A Confiscation of vehicles for racing etc.
Where a court is satisfied that a person has been convicted of two impounding offences (driving) within the previous five years, it may order that vehicle used in the commission of the offence is to be surrendered to the Commissioner for Police and confiscated to the State.
So the 3 month impounding is a second offence within 3 years but confiscation is 2 impounding offences within 5 years.
