hey everyone,
have a crack in the front windscreen that has got out of hand now
i was ringing around places today getting prices for a new windscreen fitted
prices are as follows;
O'Brien
$460 or something fitted
Novus
$310 +/- fitted
now i was wondering, are there any local places or 'small' businesses that can take care of this a bit cheaper
i once had to get a rear windscreen put in at a place that is right next to where J-Shop used to be but i have forgotten their name...
any help would be awesome guys, much appreciated
cheers,
Andrew

do you think $310 fitted for a new screen is expensive?
i thought that was cheap, given the average commodore glass fitted is about 250ish...

P.S: my insurance doesn't cover windscreens, thanks

i think 310 is pretty good.
Normally Novus and Obrien will be pretty expensive.
give the smaller guys that you find out of the yellow pages a call.
Definetly try Joondalup Windscreens, they will also match a price (usually, if its not too big of a difference) as long as you find some one that does it for that price.

They wont fit it for you, but you could pickup a brand new screen for 80 bucks if you're in the trade..otherwise pay abit more as they still sell to public..:)

^ nice one lol
i didn't think $310 was expensive, found it quite cheap actually but seeing if there's any cheaper though as they were the only two places i could get quotes from today and seeing as though they're franchises i'm thinking maybe the smaller local ones would charge a little less
and to the two recent replies, i'll give them both a call tomorrow, cheers fellas

ring one of the small mobile car window fitters in the paper.. they are by far the cheapest option.

have had a bit of a bad run in with joondalup windscreens before trying to pass off some bodgy work, made them redo it and was very happy with the finish the second time.

^ sorry to hear dude, had something similar happen to me... it's probably only $120 because you already have the winscreen, i know the rear one is really expensive to find and fit in the first place as i had to experience it and finding one for the 34 was at cheapest $750 supplied
i've since decided to go with O'Brien's as they have just sent me an sms saying they'll do it for $318 but i get a free winscreen the next time i require one as they'll give me some voucher for it which in the end adds up to $159 for a windscreen with fitting so that worked out well
thanks for the help everyone, cheers!

yeah nobody seemed to listen to my post...even though its where obrien, novus etc buy their screens from. its just a huge warehouse full of glass.
Went up there and asked for a screen, they gave me a parts book, i told them a number, under $100 later i walked away with a brand new one..

lol thinking about it as i haven't organised a time to get my windscreen done yet as the car will be in the shop, i might give these guys a go and get a quote just for fitting
thanks for the heads up dude, i was a bit worried as you said $80 for trade (as i'm not in any trade) but if it's only $20 more for general public i'd be saving heaps of money
thanks fellas!

i rung around to get quotes for my car after the rock throwing cruise, prices ranged from $220 to 360 installed for a 20yr old car.
www.hlglass.com.au
they did the custom windows in "mercules"
cost me $220 for a brand new windscreen in my laser, fitted and old one removed.
next day installation aswell.
Damien is very helpful.

no way thats brand new, they are allmost 2K for rear screen because they have the arial and rear dimister in it, last time i was quoted a price from Nags for a 32 front screen with no arial was 150 bucks, so allow laybor to fit you would come close to 300 so IMO 310 is ok price

Was about $1k for an Evo X windscreen... FAIL

Well I got quoted $1.2K from nissan when my 32R's back window was smashed, genuine seals are about another $600.
I got a gtst coupe window(cheap from a mates wreck) and generic seals, got tint at the same time and cost me $250 all up... which is less than half of what my excess would of been.
