Just got this in email from d&d

Canon have announced the NEW 500D.

DSL & 1080P Camera in one, very nice, I like! Just need to release it with a solid state 1TB HDD and it'd be perfect!

being a 500d and following along with Canons series designations... I'd say 1500-2k for the body.

Looks like it will be a winner, good to see Canon hitting back now that Nikon has been caining it for a while with better bodies!

5DMK2 and now this, Canon guys should be wrapped.

Only thing i saw that was questionable was 9-point AF and 3.4 FPS. Was expecting a little bit better there Canon!

Remeber guys its a 500d, so it's entry level. Price should be similar to the 450d. I'd still go a 50d over this. You don't buy an SLR to take video.
That said, it's a massive jump up from the 450d.

Looks like I might have a more affordable option for upgrading my old 400D, still love to get my hands on a 5DmkII though! :)
