Hello Gents... long story short I'm the new owner of Jamie's beast... A few people around the place know me from a while back / around the car scene / out and about. The names Paul either way. Had a few 180's and some other not so exciting cars so it was time for something a bit more serious.

So i thought I'd do my best to keep everyone in the loop. The car was never driven more than 2m by myself before hand over (there was no need after Jamie too me for a spin.). Since that point its been stripped for rego, which will hopefully be shortly... then i'll attend a few cruises / ahg / enjoy it. to help your cause see if u can get some out of state plates, just wack them on say they came on car when u bought it.

inspector is going to be a lot more lenient if he believes it has been lic'd before in australia.

i went over warwick pits with a triple plate

the inspector must have been about 70 years old

he stalled it a few times during the test drive, i think he was that embarressed about it he didnt want to mention it again and let it pass

Supra looks great, bloody pain in the ass to get it over the pits but theres light at the end of the tunnel :D Its amazing how they can whinge about things that IMPROVE safety like bigger brakes/tyres etc...

No doubt you've been over the pits before, but with a car like this even looking as stock as it can be (besides a monster high mount turbo) they will find a reason to hold it up, never accept what they tell you, agrue with common sense and respect and most of the time they'll let it through.

Good luck at pits mate :) If you get it over first shot it would be an awesome effort. If not, there is always a second chance and atleast that way you only have to fix the issues they note, hopefully not too many!

Had the pleasure of going in this car before he sold it off. It's an absolute ANIMAL. The first time it hit boost i have no doubt that in your mind you went "SOLD!".

Thumbs up to Matt Deluca at Shannons!... premium is huge but atleast its covered... call anyone in shannons get flat out no... call Matt, no dramas!

Few have asked about the fuel system ill chuck it up for sale once i've got the car on the road (clearly first priority)... that and i dunno what its worth.

Latest update is more delays on the car till next week; getting flanges cut for the exhaust system etc etc... Laser cut flanges daym. -- the last thing to do! Assuming she runs smooth and doesnt need re-tuning pits should happen next week!

Not really much to report...

Idle / fueling issues added to stock exhaust annoyances have slowed everythign right down... car is now moving and running like stock so pit runs should be very soon! -- I'll be snapping a few stock shots tonight if i manage to get away.

Pending on how fast bits go on it may be out for a day or so for some fun.
Else it stays in the workshop whilst im offshore for operation sexy-bay.
(read: Braid everything / sexy connections...)

No comment on which pits it went to until plates are on the car... but yes it passed with the T51R / engine bay mainly untouched!!!

Cheers guys, going on the dyno in a day or so to run up on a few different boost levels... (check tune is still good with changes + to see power figures again) so should have some updates around then.

s13boi (adrian yes??.. you realize which Paul i am yes? Sonny's mate haha)... Might be able sort something with the surge tank if you still keen. . . slightly toying with the idea of mounting it in the bay/under the car some how as the last setup was highly illegal / dangerous. . . but it had 2 040's (possibly 044's i forget?? Jme?) on it. Your supra conversion done?... backyard spec Vs workshop spec runs? =P

if youre interested in having a surge tank under the car, thats what I run on mine with two 044's. im organising a group buy of the same design surge tank on the supra forums. mine was custom made, im just going to use the same design and get a whole bunch made :)

Slight update as I'm stuck at work and bored...
When putting the exhaust on the dump pipe was found to be erm how was it described "bitsa"... ie. bits-n-pieces... from 3" to 3.5" which basically instead of using mandrell(spelling?) bends / one diameter they welded a few pieces and angles together ... since then a custom 3.5" was made and put in mandrell bends etc etc

Everything important is back on, plus a few engine bay cleanups...

Dyno expected Monday / Tuesday so expect graphs and updated photos of engine bay (maybe)...

Keys will finally be in my hands Wednesday... will be road "testing" the gate :lol: so to anyone i see out on the road, my bad in advance :wave:

Yeah, just with exhaust change same boost... same tune etc... Its overfuelling majorly... and yeah... wet-laps ... what traction?!

Another thought, when it was dry... these tyres wont last long... 2nd and 3rd are brutal on them!... o vid's of dyno pull / graph / new photos uploading soon! ... including the 3 people sitting in the boot required to get it to put the power down haha!

Get some safe seat time, as you saw previously, it goes curb to curb VERY quickly !!!!

congrats, glad it has worked out in the end.

The tune i had in it was MEGA safe, bout 12degrees of timing if i recall, much more in it, however I tuned it for U98 which isnt consistent, and quite frankly 600hp in safe form is MORE than ample for the street. But then again too much is never enough!!!!

Take the wing off and i'll hunt you down and gut you like a pig :D

I think it would be good to see what it can lay down at the strip and on the dyno on jungle juice.
Obviously needs to be tuned back to 98 after that and be seen out on weekends clutching 4th on the freeway.

And yeah the last car was a drift-pig 180sx... bit of a step up to say the least.

As for the race fuel... as Tj put it was always to be a street car (just.) so I have no real intentions of running it... and realistically what would it achieve? apart from dyno queen / running a number which it cant pull on the street...

She's already impossible to boost in the wet and in the dry... she will still break traction (modestly)... To be honest currently I'm just enjoying the fighter-jet sound of the T51R on boost!!

dyno numbers are bragging rights, might aswell get the highest the motor can produce to brag the loudest.

tank of race fuel and a retune wont cost that much and be awesome to see what power it can create.

Well Considering JME had it safe-tuned at 565hp... down from 595... and it now pulled 605 on the same 'safe' tune... yeah lets just say i'm betting shes got more... atleast a little bit anyways!

Slight update -- seeing as it cost me alot today --
Fuel setup is now; 2 bosch 040's... with 2 primer pumps. Feeding into the modified fuel rail for a dual feed setup. Also she copped a massive muffler and no longer sounds like its on roids as much (a good and bad thing...)

Finally going to xspeed tonight / tommorow morning for re-tune... exciting stuff! -- Only looking for 600 safely n cleanly but we'll see what happens.

Yeah videos to come... I have the first dyno vid but it has my plate in it, so anyone know some good video cropping/blurring software?... Will try and get some in-car videos this weekend seeing as she'll be fully tuned and what not.

So was fuel system not adequate or not adequately made? Did he sense that it was leaning out up top when it went on the dyno? I thought the tune was pretty fat and safe, indicating it had more than enough fuel..

Agit8d - Erm we'll go with none of the options... basically its being changed so if one pump was to fail it'd be safe / surge tank to ensure no leaning out due to lack of fuel or hard corner love.
I agree'd, because at this sort of horsepower wont take much to pop pop pop... so might as well just finish it off rather then doing it later down the track when i wanna have some ahg / no limits fun (which would mean another tune). . . That and i can't afford to rebuild the hks-wishlist engine :spank:

why is there two lift pumps? if the system is under pressure wouldnt one suffice? or there is two smaller intanks going into the surge then two external 040s? or is it using that much fuel that to maintain pressure from tank to surge it requires two?

My way of saying i cant afford to re-buy the parts let alone pay for the labour haha!... as for the dual feed, im no mechanic so someone can most likely explain it better / correct me! But as it was explained to me and how i think it works is basically the hks fuel rail was single feed i.e. fuel whent in one side and out the other feeding cyclinders sequentually. The dual feed is how its currently modified such that fuel now feeds in from both sides of the rail and a new centre outlet. This was 'apparently' done to make sure all the cyclinders got fuel at the same time etc etc. (Again im no mechanic there may be more to it!)

There is two lift pumps as when we removed the surge tank there was still 2 040's feeding just off a lift pump which couldnt feed both so we set it up with one lift pump each to provide the necessary head for each pump. Now, the two lift pumps will feed the surge to confirm the 040's cant suck it dry... or possibly ill put my hand in my pocket again and put a single 040 to feed the surge tank... If necessary

Again, no mechanic so the above may be wrong... Yes, once the wet season is over ahg -> drags -> no limits...

Makes full boost by 5,000 I'd say (kind-a have to watch the road at this point)
Rev limit... probably 8-9,000... tacho light set for 7,000 till I have it tuned.

Tuning delayed as money is being spent on a trip away... the thought has also crossed my mind to sell / trade for something I could drive daily / trust at the train station!

Well it may have been said before but I'm drunk so MEH... 2 lift pumps feeding 1 surge tank is overkill, BUT (and its a big BUT) If said surge tank has a feed back to the tank, pressure build up will be minimal, so no worries there, and if one pump dies, then the other will be able to keep up with out the motor leaning out and turning into Swiss cheese.

Well that's my drunken thoughts...

In Terms of whats been going down; Dyno run revealed a leaking gate, boost spiking etc... Rich (fetish) hooked me up with a sexy surge tank to finally go in... and Mr.Rick McDowell (*plug plug plug*) took some sexy photos for HPI. Sooo expect a proper update filled with new dyno results & photo's in a couple of weeks / month.

N15Turbo - Funnily enough mate it did it all that night, defi's flicking off etc, turn on the next day 0 issues since... so wires overheated or something and just come good. Stereo is awesome, tweaked the deck settings and it came alive... to the point where the rear-view mirror is useless =)

- Ant / Hanson were great and helped me revise the fuel system, so since i needed a full re-tune anyway I figured this was the time to do it if i was going to.
- Liked the idea of increased local knowledge and the idea that in the future I could get a tune from any the top perth tuners if i wanted to (all seemed confident with haltechs).
- Haltech had alot of additional safety's (Big fan of redundancy in safety features...I like my engine!)
- Lots of wank factors available - Cutouts / launch-control / antilag / rotational idle etc. -- And needed a way to not get chopped so badly off the line by certain gtrs *Read: Brockas*
- Was able to get it cheap! (Cheers to Danny @ Imports)

So... Slight update, working up north has resulted in the Supra staying under my ownership, despite a few offers rather close to my sale price.

So wallet re-opened, she went in for an agressive tune! Only to have the spark breakdown at increased power levels. A coilpack / spark solution is being worked out currently which should see more boost wound back in. (Suggestions welcome). Aim is to run 25-28psi on pump fuel and see what sort of power that nets.

It is currently featured in HPI 120 as an '800hp g-banger' for anyone wanting a read (I am yet to read/see the article so can't comment on it as yet). And lastly for people who missed the sunday cruise thread, and because I love Josh's photos, some antilag ballers let me hangout with them for a while.
