I intend to be there. The Coupe's getting towed to the workshop on Saturday. Power steering cooler is on. Oil cooler next week and by then the new brake line would've been made up and fitted.

Jai Philp
03-10-2009, 05:50 PM
I take it your doing both brake lines? Just so they are matching....

Spektor
03-10-2009, 06:17 PM
Nope. Just the one. They're both relatively new so there's no need to replace the good one.

Only failed because it rubbed on my rim.

Jai Philp

I've entered.
Hopefully we get a nice warm track!

Will go, Do I have to have an instructor with me again? Just so I know whether to bring a change of underwear.

The instructors don't have to drive your car if you're not comfortable with it.
They just offer to drive for you because it's the best way for them to show you proper lines/techinques.

You do need to have an instructor sit next to you (while you drive) until they give you the OK to go out on your own.

Irwin Lims Evo is the SHIT!

I love that fluctuating cool down idle it has when he comes into the pit lane. He told me how it works last month but now i've forgotten :(

sounds like your talking about rotational idle? if so it drops a cylinder each cycle to cool down after antilag. loved seeing his evo come onto the straight it sounds so mean

i went down with few mates to check it out, mannnn it was awsum

that porsche sounds incredibly good, and the 32 GTR with that looked like a T88 (only saw quick glimpse) and the 34GTR rims with big project mu's and dogbox, wow

Often I've found my car cools down too much if I don't go out for a while. Usually rev it lightly to get temps back up before I go back out.

Think that's what he might have been doing...

Yeah I think he was in the 2 Seabrooke cars.
He was saying that he's just bought Kerry Wades old evo 9 which was also doing laps.
I could be wrong but I think the 55 second lap was the evo 9 with peter major driving and the 35 did the 58 second lap.

That's my friend Craigs car. He's setting it up for Drift actually, but i managed to convince him to come down for this. He'll be back in December with a locked diff ;)

Pics of when it was at the exhaust shop recently with 185's stretched on. The chassis rails were literally less than 1" from the ground! It took like 10 mins just to get it off the hoist, haha! Lucky Carline Malaga are good blokes.

Brockas (Paul) you are damn close!
(we also need to keep Esoteric in line here........;-)

Reason why for the revving in pits:
- "GT3" (like GT1/GT2) is a category of road registerable race cars that compete under the FIA's strict rules - mostly in the EU
- The Porsche GT3 3.6l flat 6 engine is a hand made engine produced in limited quantities for GT3 cars - it revs to 8,250rpm, & produces 80% of its awesome torque from just 3,000 rpm
- All Porsche pure race cars are derived form the GT3 - ie the RSR, Cup Car etc
- The GT events run from a minimum 2hrs, up to 24 hrs.
- So the last thing the engine is all about is doing is just 5 laps at Wanneroo short track!

it was an awesome night - heaps of laps, having timing is kool & no angst on the track
Well done Jai!

cheers

Reason for revving motor in the pits is because its a race motor? huh?

Your reasons you gave don't make sense as to why you constantly rev it!

It did. I can only assume it was the instructor driving on the 2 sessions we saw out of it, as the front brakes looked like sparklers coming into cat corner (AWESOME). After that, they weren't getting anywhere near as hot. Still a very nice car.

That Porsche and Evo also sounded absolute mint.

I have a few pics and quick vids. I'll try get them up this week.

If it was the silver 35R, the driver won targa west challenge section this year, so its not like he cant pedal.

Absolute champion of a bloke too.

Was gonna say, it was a silver one, but if the owner could pedal, he wasn't for most of it. Certainly wasn't driving badly, just not pushing it at all.

My vid. Nothing special. Same corner over and over again, but a good spot to watch it from. Love the sound of that GTR and the Porsche.

Cheers. Yeah, it's actually a really good vantage point. You get a lot closer to the track and a better view (IMO) than you do from the normal viewing area above the pits.

I didn't know you could go around there either until I went for a wander up to Cat corner, then just kept going aorund.

Great response there! How about actually justifying the reason you sit there revving rather than reproducing the Porsche promo material! Does water and oil temp get below normal operating temps and you rev to get them back up; does the manual suggest to do this everytime you start it up?

If you rev in the pits because "it sounds cool" then I refer to the earlier post of "look at me, look at me"!
