View Full Version : RB20det G-box blown?

Ok long story
Was driving normal (I know it's hard to beleive) down my street and went to put it into forth and the clutch went straight to the floor so I popped in into nuetral and rolled down my street and up my driveway.

I jacked it up and noticed the rod coming from the slave cylinder was fully out and upon closer inspection i noited the pivoit ball that the clutch fork piviots on had sheared in half.

SO we pulled the box out and put a new pivoit ball in,puit g-box in and the pedal was not as heavy as before.Mmmm but it still charred thru second and was fine except a crunch into second when i slammed it into gear hard.it had never crunched that bad before.

Ok morning after I'm on my way to work and I romped it thru second and it started knocking/clunking from the gearbox bad.I stopped to look underneath but can't see fark all so I try and get it into second and it just keeps on crunching.I finally got it into first but it wont go into second but goes into third and forth.
So i'm idling it along in forth home and it's knocking the whole way.

I noticed today after work that with the clutch pushed in and in nuetral there is no noise but as soon as I take my foot off the clutch it knocking bad.

What do you guys think it is?Input shaft
I need it fixed for motorvation

Fucking ghey assed boxes and I shall stone nissan for making such a shit design.I got a spare one here but I can't engage 3rd,4th,5th and reverse Mmmmm I got stooged I think!!

how much u wanna spend on a 20 box... i might be upgrading to rb25 so mine will be for sale for the right price

i have one in really good condition and has just copped a new bearing and freshen up with redline oil. but it wont be too cheap

It is dead with gear bits and all.Should a gearbox be able to select all gears while out of the car? coz if so my spare might be ok.

r32 boxes aint worth shit anymore u can find them from 300-500 in good working order now

I have one but need to know if it should be able to select all gears while out of the car EG no oil,clutch etc.I got the shifter in also,I need to know ASAP

Should be able to spin input shaft and select all gears.....

I was spinning the input chaft but still no go.I did notice that if I unscrewed the 2 side big bolts(Detent springs?) I could engage 1st,2nd,3rd and 4th but not 5th and reverse.WTF is with that?

My GFs 32 broke a box, selector or similar, couldnt get into any gear.

They don't like power or flat shifting

This had to happen this week did'nt it,with Motorvation and all.I was thinking about pulling apart both boxes and making 1 good one but that aint going to happen before sat.

yeah i thought the 34 box was a good idea... 4k later it might be in the bloody car.
stick with a 33 box, half the hassle and literally half the cost

lol paid nowhere near that for the box, expensive bits are pull clutch, flywheel, tailshaft, yoke and fitting
1450 for clutch&fly at cost is painfull.

As always Steve has come up with the goods and I now have a R33 box that will be fitted soon.
