well as the title says, left my mobile in my shorts and they got washed.

now do i have any hope?

mob won't turn on.

tried swapping batteries - did nothing.

is my $500 nokia now just bin worthy?

worth trying to get it fixed? or no point..there a chance even to get it up and running without costing much just to get my numbers and things like that off it?

cheers.

either put it in tumble dryer or hang out on line

but make sure to iron it if you dont want crease marks :)

binable... old Nokias you could remove the rear casing and use hairdryer to dry the board out, but new ones = game over.

Claim insurance on it if you got some with the phone?

Otherwise it is a $500 paper weight

you could try taking battery etc out and putting it in the oven for hours at a really really low heat, see if that works looks like you have nothing to lose.

drive past and peg it at a coon.
or put it in the bin.

replace insides with high explosives, put plastic shell back on

then peg it at a coon, and run!

there is a place in Bently that fixes phones they are actually who telstra will sometimes send mobiles to when ppl drop them of at telstra for warrenty and shit.

Its just at the lights on Albany hwy next door to the yellow building. Used to be speedworks years and years and years ago.

Anyway peta dropped her phone in water and left it for about 2 mths before finally deciding to get it fixed. The circuit board was all rusted and wouldnt turn on etc, this place stripped it down and ultrasonically cleaned it. Also managed to save all the info on the memory and then loaded the latest software version. From memory it was a $60 inspection fee, then it was fixable so cost another $100 i think. Was a Nokia N95

My brother went there last week, only a small joint.

He was told to go there after the telstra shop said they couldnt be arsed fixing his Broken LCD screen.

they charged him 130 for a new screen and entire face on his phone, which wasa bargain, also replaced the keypad too.

lol... don't try turning it on! dismantle as much of it as you can and leave it to air dry, use a can of compressed air to get rid of any moisture on the boards, then try turning it on when its dry.

not sure if its savable now that you've already tried to turn it on

just leave it over night with battery and sim card out,99% of the time it will work again, plug the charger in when u try it. if you have one laying around stick it in a bag of rice.

Remove all the covering the best you can.

Lightly apply Meth with cotton wool bud (Evaporates fast hence gets rid of moisture.

Drop phone into a bag of rice. Apparently rice has some special property of soaking moisture.

Battery might be rooted though, better a replacement battery than a phone.

yeh, well tried different battery, didnt work.

gave this boys a call "A1 AAA Mobile Phone Repairs, phone repairing & unlocks Bentley" - Pretty sure this is the shop you guys were talking about?

They said they have some machine that actually cleans/fixes the board until its near perfect. Fingers crossed, have all my numbers on there!

i've also heard the metho trick but never had to try it

But that is a 5110 though - they're nuke proof. I miss Nokias from that era. Had a 2280 CDMA one, that went though hell - never failed on me.

The shop in Bentley that I've used is called "Acme Phone Repairs". It's near the lights @ John St and Albany Hwy. Pretty sure they are in the Yellow Pages.
