100hp difference and only .3 slower down the quarter, very impressive by the gtr!!

Corvette looks like more fun to drive.

HMM V8 supercharged or V6 Twin turbo
ZR1 would sound heaps beta and be more fun 2 drive well thts my opinion they r both very nice cars id like to have in my garage
100hp difference and only .3 slower down the quarter, very impressive by the gtr!!
See the MPH difference though. With traction, that MPH indicates 10 seconds.

looks like so much fun to drive
Same...as much as I hate to say it, I'd take the American car over the Jappa in this situation.

Likewise.
Had a close up look at the ZR1 in NY ( http://ozcarsightings.com/updates/2008%20New%20York%20Autoshow/New%20York%20Autoshow%20(15).jpg ) and its a very impressive machine. Would love some time behind the wheel!

11.8 to 11.5 down the quarter was the outcome, where did you get 10 sec from, end of the day thats what did in 400m
Daisy
10-03-2009, 12:27 PM
the fact that the zr1 mph trap speed was huge is my guess where he drew that from, not sure myself but mighty bloody quick eitherway
Yeah, it ran an 11.5 but check the difference in MPH between the two cars.....the Corvette had a lot more top end speed, in fact, enough to drop a 10 second pass if it had traction.

saying that,ok!but if the gtr had 100 more hp that would run a ten too,but saying that both are nice cars!

Yeah and if they both had 1000hp, they'd run 8's.
It's a comparison of two very different cars. Great review, and zr1 hands down imo. Have both cars in my garage any day of the week.

...and yet the GTR has a weight disadvantage because it was designed to be awd and have maximum traction.
It just seems like flawed thinking, put both on better tyres and they both will do better times, I dare say both will do 10s just by changing tyres to something a bit stickier.

the new vette from the reviews and vids i have seen is quick and drives fucking well!! but i think what people where getting at was if they had the same HP some of these figures would change... ^^^ correct me if im wrong?
I love FR v8's and i love to go sideways and drop skids... but if you've seen the GTR that clarkson drove in Japan and this one... without sounding like a typical sklines are better than anything dick... they either didnt drive it as hard or it didnt go as hard...
Could it have been toned down for Americans? Just a question.. Coz clarkson said there was so much g force on the track close to 4 gs.. ?? he put his neck out and needed medical attention!! ??
So whats going on!!!
I think both of these are mental btw.. just a bit confused, would like to see the same tests done in Japan with japanese crews and see if the numbers change!

"While tolerance varies, a typical person can handle about 5 g (49m/sē) before g-loc"
never heard of anyone any where near passing out from a cars acceleration or cornering. 4 Gs would have you close

both cars are cool.
I would like to be given both cars.
Although....seeing that they're both pretty crazy cars, it's close, but the corvette is quicker apparently around a track and it's RWD and sounds insane...burnouts! :D

The vette still seems to be stuck in the mesozoic era, but i'd still take it over the gtr if I had to choose.
If I had the money I'd buy both though.
*edit* Seems I was a wrong with my claim about the corvette being a dinosaur. It's not just a motor with 4 wheels, car has some serious thaught and technology put into it.
Seems chevrolet have put together what looks to be a real performance car to rival europes finest.

yeah the GTR couldnt keep anywhere close if it didnt use the launch control and if you added 100hp to it the gearbox would shit itself as it does without modification anyway.
the vette is nearly double the displacment... its a stupid comparison imo:slap:

like i said b4 to the clowns saying 4gs is ridiculous.. I wasnt sure!!! there was a question mark. I hadnt seen it in like 6 months!!
All I am going to add is i personnaly seeing that video liked the corvette better. Without a doubt. But I will also add seeing yanks thinking there tuff doing big stand stills made me wonder about the bias in that video, so i went and watched season 11 episode 5 of top gear. the first 10 minutes!!! Watch how Clarkson drives that thing sideways though every bend and explains the technology which has gone in it and the uniqueness of each car imo ( that means my opinion btw to all the haters) the gtr would be a better pick!!
But in saying that I would like to see clarkson drive the vette too! Seriously go watch that ep of Top Gear if you havent already seen it... Fantastic.

I've been in a 35R and I've driven an HSV GTS, which is most aptly described as a glorified VN in terms of handling and suspension.

I thought the HSV GTS I drove handled pretty well but I haven't been in any really awesome handling cars to compare it with. Its all subjective in the end anyway surely

Id take the ZR1 over the GTR aswell, youve got all the fun of a rear wheel drive car with better performance. 128mph is a mid to high 10 with a stalled up auto maybe even a low 10. For looks id take the 2010 GT500 over both

i'd take the zr1 running gear in a new camaro:)
get most the performance but the camaro looks so much better
but in this comparison it'd still be the zr1, can't argue with it's performance and looks like heaps of fun

Imo, it's not really a fair comparison..
Price difference?
Hp difference?
Drivetrain difference?
Engine size difference?
There's just too many variables. It's like compairing Fords flagship model with Ferrari's flagship model.. Two completely different car manufacturers with completely different demographics.
I would, however, like to see them compaired to eachother in the real world. ie not on a track, maybe a hill run or similar.

That "second rate suspension and everything else" translated into a lap of the nurburgring 3 or 4 seconds faster than your "tour de force"
It pulls over 1 lateral G on the skid pan so obviously the suspension isnt lacking and it has carbon ceramic brakes from factory
